This is great even tho there are some generic parts, but themes that got me interested in the album in the first place are so heartfelt and well presented by Courtney that they overshadow a lot of the weak points of the album. Also following album “Celebrity Skin” is underrated as fuck.
“In Utero” is Kurt’s most personal work by far, and most of the time listening to this album it feels like I’m more of a spectator who getting to know-how Kurt really felt at that time. I would say it's an objectively more important album than “Nevermind”, even tho I do prefer that album.
Weezer's debut album is almost impossible not to like, the album is full of infectiously catchy hits, and songwriting from Rivers Cuomo is fantastic, from silly and fun narratives to very personal and heartfelt moments.
Weezer’s second album takes some of the blue album’s angst-ridden parts and makes them even more angsty while still maintaining their infectiously catchy side. I wasn’t into this from the first listen as I was with the Blue and White album but it has been growing on me a lot more on every listen.
