I still think "POST-" is a damn good album. It's energetic as hell, the production is outstanding, the lyrics are great and it's just punchy and catchy, overall. But, even after a little over a year, I have never returned to this album... at all. It's so weird because I used to have a lot of fun on my first listen.

Very Good
This is where the band started to fall apart. While the "Green Album" keeps the accessibility and hooks of the "Blue Album", it loses most of its charm and it plays it alarmingly safe. The quality of the writing and instrumentation has also dropped significantly. Overall, it's not a bad album. It just pales in comparison to their first two albums.

I haven't heard of this band before, but color me impressed! The lyrics, Frances' Voice, the beautiful production, the upbeat tone, the writing, the storytelling, almost all of it is top notch and enjoyable throughout!

Weezer's debut is incredible! The instrumentation is great, the writing is outstanding and the hooks and melodies are infectious! It's also nerdy as hell and I love it!

Seriously though, this has to be one of the most generic, lifeless and outright BAD albums I've heard all year.

For a Warp record, it's surprisingly accessible. But that doesn't keep it from being Grizzly Bear's best album. It's beautiful and very well written.

Outstanding
"Room on Fire" is a successful follow-up to their masterful debut. It expands upon "Is This It"'s laid back sound while still retaining the catchy hooks, clever lyricism, great vocals and great instrument chemistry that made the band so great. I guess the only thing holding it back is that... maybe Julian's vocals are pushed back in the mix a bit more than usual. Other than that, this is an incredible sophomore release. It also has "Reptillia", so that's pretty ... read more
"Discovery" is a danceable, brilliantly-produced, infectious as hell and iconic piece of French that stands as the best in its genre. There's a lot more variety than their previous record, making these songs pack more weight and, more importantly, be the perfect ingredient for dance parties "Around The World". This record is one of the reasons why I enjoy electronic music so goddamn much!

On "Melophobia", they tone-down the aggressive garage rock style that made up their previous records in favor of a lighter indie rock sound while retaining their lo-fi roots and bringing brass sections to the table. The result is Cage the Elephant's best work to date! The instrumentation is absolutely solid, the melodies are smooth, the writing is a huge improvement and the hooks are just so damn catchy!

Nothing But Thieves showcases large amounts of potential that never surface. Conor is an absolutely beautiful singer and the instrumentation and production are great. Unfortunately, the song structures are barebones at best and the band does nothing to stand out from their rather obvious peers.

While there is some early potential here and Thom's vocals are still there, it feels like they borrowed too much from their contemporaries. "Creep" is still a classic, though.

Unlike Julian Casablancas' main attraction, The Strokes, The Voidz' "Tyranny" is a self-indulgent grower. The lo-fi dial has been turned up to 11, the guitar riffs/solos are bonkers, politics grow like weed and most of these songs are long-winded as hell. Give it more time, though, and you may find some of his most interesting and most experimental work to date. It's a little bloated, but this is still a musically-diverse, weird and fun record... and the 11-minute "Human ... read more

"Is This It" may not be cutting edge, even by today's standards. It's a very simplified, laid-back record with a rough, lo-fi vibe to it. But it gives this record its advantage. The instrumentation is superb, with lots of great, catchy riffs panning the left and right channels with very ear-warm bass lines on top of relatively simple drum fills. Unlike a lot of other bands from that era, the members keep in the same lane as their singer. Julian Casablancas is an incredible lead ... read more
Kevin goes for a more "pop" direction than its rock-laden predecessor (even if it still has plenty of guitars). There are synths galore and the bass and drums are more prominent than ever. This is not a fault by any means, as this is some of the best psychedelic pop you'll ever hear... and one of the best sounding records of the past ten years! Every song on here has amazing hook after amazing hook, whether it be the bassline on "The Less I Know The Better", the "'CUZ ... read more
I feel like a basic review isn't enough to describe "Twin Fantasy". This album has changed my perspective on myself and made me more confident in my identity. Now, I'm usually not a fan of displaying my personal life to the public, but I also can't think about this album without remember the events preceding it. So, let me get this out of my chest.

I remember having so much goddamn fun with this album back in 2018 and it's not letting up two years later! "Virtue" is a vibrant, catchy, diverse and forward-thinking rock album with great instrumentation and a surprising amount of consistency throughout its 15 tracks. Overall, I think this is the best album Julian Casablancas has made since The Strokes' first two records!

“Government Plates” tosses aside the hooks that made both “The Money Store” and “No Love Deep Web” great and focuses more on the aggression. But this also makes it their most forgettable and repetitious album.
