Nicolás Jaar - Telas
77

Does this guy ever sleep?

Kacy Hill - Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again
76

Some cool moments on here. Makes for a good listen, but a little inconsistent. I'll be keeping an eye on her

Lianne La Havas - Lianne La Havas
79

Maybe the sexiest Radiohead cover ever

Protomartyr - Ultimate Success Today
86

The underrated punk band comes out with another likely to be underrated record. This is their best one yet.

Margo Price - That's How Rumors Get Started
61

Just like Sturgill's last album, Margo makes a transition towards a rockier, stadium sound. And just like Sturgill's last album, it's a complete flop of boringness

My Morning Jacket - The Waterfall II
79

Didn't have high hopes after not loving waterfall 1, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not earth shattering, but has the quintessential MMJ ethereal sound.

The Beths - Jump Rope Gazers
84

The Beths' debut flew under the radar a bit and here's to hoping this one won't. Just solid, no-frills indie rock.

Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
73

Ugh I wish I liked this more. I think there are a lot of blah moments on this, unfortunately, despite some standouts

HAIM - Women in Music Pt. III
88

Haim grows up with a remarkably mature third record compared to their earlier affairs. Vampire Weekend influence is huge, but doesn't feel like a ripoff

Westerman - Your Hero Is Not Dead
88

I listened to this like 6 times before rating because I was confused about how I felt. Turns out I just wanted to listen to it again. It's a grower, but it's fantastic. Very unique sound.

Hinds - The Prettiest Curse
64

I don't know. I really liked their first record, but the stuff since has been so damn bland

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Sideways To New Italy
69

Ugh it's pretty disappointing after the super promising debut. I just feel like the songs all blend in a not-so-memorable way. No great hooks, other than Not Tonight

Run The Jewels - RTJ4
77

Truth is I wish I liked it more. Lyrics are great and as important as ever, but I just think a lot of the production is lacking compared to some other things El-P has done, particularly with RTJ. Still some great moments on this, and a very necessary album. Just doesn't have the urgency in its production that RTJ2 had

Medhane - Cold Water
72

I think it's decent, but won't leave a lasting impact

The 1975 - Notes On A Conditional Form
69

The thing is there are some good moments in here, but holy fuck this is all over the place

Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated Side B
74

I kinda thought CRJ could do no wrong anymore, but this one is a little disappointing. No obvious bangers and a little boring on the back half

80

It's enchanting and beautiful and clearly amazing. As I said in my part 1 review, Virile is the best song I've heard in years....

But this is a challenging listen. I think in coming months I may bump this up to a 95 or down to a 75. We'll see if I revisit

Edit: A few months out I'm not really coming back to this so I'm slightly bumping down my rating. Still good, but again I emphasize it's a tough listen
