I’ve never really “gotten” Deathconsciousness, and I’ve pretty much just accepted it at this point.
There’s amazing songs on here, obviously. If you want to know which ones are my favorites, scroll down and find the tracks I rated a 5*. The second half of this album is near perfect, but I feel like the first half weighs it down a lot. The writing is definitely a highlight throughout the album, including the first disc, but I still think that chunk of the album is ... read more
30 minutes of ascension.
Murmuüre is an atmospheric black metal album at its core, but it’s much more than just that. It’s very unique in its sound. There’s so much emphasis put on atmosphere. It misses no opportunity to incorporate electronic elements into the mix. It’s extremely abrasive, really in your face at times, grand, etc. And, with the project being so short, I see no reason for anyone to skip out on this, whether they’re familiar with black metal ... read more
An amazing send off.
A Moon Shaped Pool is probably the best Radiohead album in terms of lyrics, and the instrumental palette is vastly different from every other album they’ve made. Its relaxed nature helps to amplify its intimacy, which is probably the thing that I like most about this album.

Is The King of Limbs one of Radiohead’s weaker releases? Yeah, but it’s not bad. Maybe it’s a little boring for some songs, but the album itself feels so short to the point where it doesn’t really get the momentum going to make it feel like a bad record.

I understand the importance and influence of Crack Cloud$, but do I think it’s all that enjoyable? Kinda.
There’s a few songs on this that are by FAR the best (Daydream, Drip, Hydrocodons, & Ice Cream Stoned Strippahs), but most everything else is varying degrees of alright. It’s not a bad album, but there’s a lot of music you have to sift through to get to the actual good stuff.

I’ve always kind of dismissed harsh noise ever since I got into music a few years ago, but wow Venereology is a great album.
The 50 minutes I spent listening to this went by almost instantly just because it was so exciting the entire time through. The songs are somewhat dynamic, there’s enough variety to barely distinguish one track from the other, but all of them have distinct strong points or climaxes that are executed so perfectly (especially Anaranga-Ranga near the 20 min ... read more
In Rainbows is probably the closest Radiohead got to making a perfect album, in my opinion. There’s so many good songs on this that it’s pretty much impossible to even imagine disliking it.

MUCH better than Amnesiac. Radiohead actually have a developed album this time around, one that moves away from the Kid A sound that they’d already squeezed the life out of with the previous record. A lot of great songs on here, especially the opener and closer.

Too many people make ‘Mid A’ jokes about Kid A but never Amnesiac. This album is just a watered down version of Kid A that is less ambitious, less consistent, and less developed. This is probably my least favorite of theirs up to this point in their discography.

Yeah, this is a masterpiece. There’s amazing storytelling, REALLY catchy hooks, and great instrumentals throughout. The chemistry between Mos Def and Talib Kweli is crazy too, every song is elevated by how they perfectly work together and trade verses & bars.

Kid A is probably the most left-field and unconventional album for Radiohead standards, but it’s still really good nonetheless. I feel like the ambient and electronic elements help to build a bigger atmosphere for this album, which help to create a more uniform and immersive listening experience.

I went into this expecting something completely different, but I came out not disappointed at all.
Flood is so hypnotic at times, locking me into a trance that I just can’t seem to break out of. The album as a whole feels greater than the sum of its parts: most everything on this is pretty laid back, but by the end, I felt like I’d experienced something bigger than what this truly is. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, and for an album of such a monstrous length, holding that ... read more
Feedbacker? I hardly know ‘er!
Even though I feel like a lot of the album is, to put it tersely, a bore, Feedbacker still has its moments. Most of it is no more than just pleasant, but the more musical climax in Part 3 and the harsh noise-adjacent droning in Part 4 are really exciting and fun to listen to. The coda to Part 2 in Part 5 wraps up the album nicely, creating something that is pretty rewarding to listen to.

To me, Closer is FAR superior to Unknown Pleasures. I think that Ian Curtis’ writing has gotten even stronger (Atrocity Exhibition and Decades are probably the best written Joy Division songs) and the instrumentals are a lot more captivating. Extremely consistent tracklist, too.

OK Computer is kinda overrated, but it’s still a really good album. There’s so many instantly recognizable and modern-day classic songs here: Paranoid Android, Exit Music, Karma Police, No Surprises, etc., and all of these songs are so popular for a reason.

The least Unwound-like album ever made by Unwound. This was a massive stylistic change that I didn’t expect, I don’t think Justin yelled even once. It’s also the best and most atmospheric Unwound album, particularly on the second disc which is UNBELIEVABLY good.
