A trip hop classic.
I know it’s been said like a million times already, but Dummy is one of those “classic” albums that 100% deserves its flowers. And it’s a debut too?? Having a sound this defined and unique is something special, but having that straight out the gate is something even MORE special.

Okay Sufjan we get it… you know how to make masterpieces.
This is such a beautiful album. Having heard it without context of his partner’s passing, I thought it was amazing. With context, I loved it even more. Stunning soundscapes, emotion-filled lyrics, and amazing pacing are just some of the things that make this album one that I add to a growing pile of Sufjan’s classics.

It’s just so good!!
None of the songs are mindblowingly good or anything even close to that, but the consistent quality of the album across all facets like production quality, catchy melodies and riffs, and especially songwriting (thank you for teaching me like a bajillion new words with your album Colin Meloy) makes up for that.

My favorite escape from reality.
Hailed as the originators of post-rock, Talk Talk are well appreciated by those among the music discussion sphere, but yet, they still remain slightly underappreciated for the amount of pure creativity and soul Mark Hollis and company had poured into their albums, especially their late masterpieces like Spirit of Eden, and, of course, Laughing Stock.
On its surface, this album seems to be absent of much meaningful progression and a lot of its tracks seem to ... read more
Four amazing songs from an amazing band. Unrivaled intensity, amazing vocal performances, killer saxophone lines, perfect pacing, this thing has got it all. Maruja will go on to do great things in the future, there’s no doubt in my mind about that.

You Forgot It In People? More like you forgot about this band.
Let’s be real for a second, this album is impossible to dislike. I mean, it’s straight 56 minutes of great indie rock tunes, so why is it not being discussed at all? For 2002, this is a surprisingly good record. It stays pretty consistent and has its fair share of highlights too, especially the tracks KC Accidental and Almost Crimes, both of which should be considered indie masterpieces at this point.

A promising debut.
A lot of the songs on this album, typically in the first half, are INFECTIOUS. And not the type of infectious where it gets stuck in your head for a day or two and goes away. No, songs from this album will be stuck in your head YEARS after you listen to them, which I feel encapsulates the essence of what Genesis Owusu intended to do on this album. I also love the juxtaposition that comes from the concept of depression, represented by “black dogs” (fun fact, these ... read more
A staple of not just the 90s, but pop culture as a whole.
Even after over 30 years since its release, Nevermind still remains culturally significant, and for good reason. There is not a single bad moment on this album, well, at all. It’s paced extremely well, so much so that the 42 minutes this album lasts feels like almost half that. The songwriting is consistently cryptic, the guitar riffs and drumming are powerful and raw, the same goes for the vocals. Tracks like Breed and ... read more
If I could give Kanye a kiss when this first came out, I would.
How does someone create a 70 minute album that feels no longer than 40? How does someone create a tracklist so water tight, so consistent, and so enjoyable with barely any flaws? I don’t know, but do I know that one of the few people that can do this is Kanye West.
With arguably the best production and smoothest rapping on a Kanye album ever, his sophomore LP both solidifies him as something more than just a one-album ... read more
The start of The Beatles’ golden era.
Even though it’s kinda overshadowed by The Beatles’ more popular records, Rubber Soul is still an enjoyable, fun, and light listen. I found the tracklist to be somewhat inconsistent and oftentimes uninteresting, though, songs like Michelle, Girl, and In My Life are amazing and are reminiscent of the quality of songs that The Beatles would put out on future albums.

beautifully written and intimate, suzanne is an EXTREMELY strong opener and one of us cannot be wrong is an expansive, thought provoking track that ends off this album perfectly
47 minutes of solely amazing music that progressively gets better as you get farther into the record… how does metallica do it??
although i do much prefer what can did on tago mago, future days offers a more relaxed take on the experimental krautrock scene than they did with their last album. even though this is a more laid back release than tago mago, it still achieves great feats like on the songs moonshake and bel air. the former is a pretty groovy short song, whereas the latter is a nearly 20 minute long multifaceted track with multiple twists and turns. however, i do have to say that this album is not nearly as ... read more
you should listen to this album. NOW!
into the endless night is my favorite song of all time. i’ve had two completely visceral listening experiences, with the most recent likely being the best moment of my entire life.
i’ve been listening to this since 2021 and i realize that every single complaint i’ve had with this album has just been nitpicking in order to keep my perfect scores low (and to not look like i’m a fantano stan or influenced by his opinions) but really i don’t see myself giving this anything other than a 100, a really enjoyable psychedelic hip hop album that is extremely dense and leaves me feeling fulfilled in just 23 minutes
