Five years man... so worth the wait, solidified his spot as my favorite rapper
There isn't a single skip on this album. I actually like every single song on this. It has a different sound from the story-telling Cilvia Demo and the laidback druggy The Suns Tirade. I like this shit a lot, a lot of southern influenced songs that act as bangers for this album are a lot better than I expected them to be, like RIP Young which is mind blowing. The slower vibe songs are right up Zay's alley and ... read more
"It's only four aces in the deck, motherfucker"
To begin with, the concept is great. Using water as a reference to the truth and transparency in so many ways to incorporate it into his lyrics is impressive. I love a lot of the production too, it has really good energy and unique sound. Mick is a great rapper when it comes to his lyricism as his writing is amazing and has some really cool lines. While I love a lot of the songs here the weakness comes towards the second half of the ... read more
Eerie production and hard gangsta rap is a recipe for success when you have the talent that Freddie and Madlib have, and its on full display here
Madlib's production is great as its helps separate this album from anything else in the genre while not taking the spotlight from Freddie's bars. Its addictive and has his trademark sound stamped all over it. When it comes to Freddie, his deep voice and smooth flows complement his confidently delivered verses full of great bars left and right. A lot ... read more
Gangsta rap often gets overlooked when it comes to albums, but this deserves its place as an essential 2010's west coast album
While it does has a couple flaws, and isn't something you've never head when it comes to its general sound, its super enjoyable. It brings that classic westside sound and there's enough variation imo to keep it from getting stale. The production and rapping are better than it gets credit for and aged really well, to this day he's the only one to make a full project of ... read more
Did not expect this sound from him, but honestly its kinda cool
It has a decent amount of variety, even though a lot of the pop songs sound a bit generic and aren't really my thing, I can respect it for sure. They sound good, he has a surprisingly good voice and range, I like the way it sounds no homo. He's done so much to prove he's not a one hit wonder, he proved a lot of us wrong. I didn't think Lil Nas would turn into this kind of artist he is now, and this is still early in his career. ... read more
I never thought I'd be saying this about Simz as I didn't expect her to get so much praise so fast but, overrated
Ok so production is fuckin beautiful, everyone can agree on that. But it gets repetitive. You probably could've released any of these songs on its own and I would love it, but when it all sounds kinda similar in my mind it just becomes a "which ones the best" out of all the ones that sound close enough. Take Woman for example, I loved that song when it came out as a ... read more
