a huge improvement from the green album, but it still leaves me wanting more. the spectacular guitars that were on the blue album and pinkerton make a return; the instrumentation as a whole is really terrific on this LP. lyrics were pretty average, but this was still a good album
fav tracks: american gigolo, dope nose, love explosion, december
talk about playing it safe... this album keeps the pop appeal that was found in the blue album, but loses much of the rebellion and variation that made blue so memorable. this really isnt bad, but it is when you compare it to the two flawless records put out before it. thank god this is a rather short album, as there was only so much that could be said. not bad really, but a disappointment
fav tracks: island in the sun, glorious day
perhaps the first taste we get of bottomless pit, and i really like it. i was so hyped when this first came out, and i was not disappointed. the structure is odd, but the lyrics are cryptically brilliant as always, and the beat is awesome as well. i hope that, on bottomless pit, there isnt as much distortion and maybe more of the guitars that were present on jenny death. good song though
"i just want the head like ISIS"
also meechy darko is a really underappreciated rapper who has a crazy flow. deserves more recognition, hell the whole group does. solid album, but i was underwhelmed. lyrics were nice, but there wasnt as much energy as i had hoped for, specifically in the beats.
fav tracks: the odyssey, new phone who dis?
EDIT: this is a perfect album. when i first ever listened to this album, I couldn't stop listening to it for a solid 2 months. I mean it, in those 2 months I probably listened to this album like 35 times all the way through. I don't really know how to explain how it hit me, but it clicked so fucking hard and it still does to this day. Call it unoriginal, call it repetitive, I get it. But I think Rivers' songwriting is at his best here and is the main reason for my love towards this ... read more
a really refreshing and original electronic album that grabbed my attention on the first track. sophie created some awesome beats, really special and upbeat. the singers werent really anything special, but they added character. lemonade was an almost euphoric track that was really a standout, with it's bubbly production and odd vocals. there are some points on this LP that arent too great and could use some fine tuning, but overall a very fun and revitalizing record.

nothing too different, but there is a pretty interesting story told on this project, and i really enjoy it. some creative flows and a nice distortion to mr yote's voice make this a unique record and makes him stand out a bit from the crowd. heard him first on iglooshost's EP and now he gives an EP of his own. nothing too special, but definitely worth checking out.
fav tracks: bait, blue beard
EDIT: not as good as i originally thought, but not as bad as i then thought. its fun and obviously not serious music, which is something that i would expect lil yachty to try to make.
this isnt really all that much better than many other soundcloud rappers right now, but this guys has created his own sound. noisey dubbed it "bubblegum trap" and i think that's the perfect way to describe it. he has a very upbeat production style under his slow and melancholy voice. each track can ... read more
after releasing nothing that anyone has heard of or cared about (except for the feature on drake's great track hold on we're going home) majid jordan gives us something that manages to bring them into mainstream relevancy. as far as today's charting pop goes, i think this is a solid album. both of these guys can sing well, and have their own unique sound when together. maybe if they didnt play it so safe, we would have an actual chart topper. because of the many filler tracks and the lack ... read more
why does lady gaga always take her gifted talent of singing and just throw it away? she really is a brilliant singer, but then she messes with her inflection and autotune, and really just fucks it all up. the production on this album was solid, even enjoyable to a certain point, but they get to become very repetitive. she really can sing, but has yet to show that on a commercial project (aside from maybe cheek to cheek) what she has show in live performances and even the goddamn national ... read more
fun but forgettable. SWMRS not only adds to the trend of band names that don't use vowels, but also to the attempted revival of grunge. all they really show is teenage angst, and while it is executed very well in a few tracks, it is majorly generic. I guess it just shows what the kids of some great bands can make. a few of the riffs were very similar to each other, but there was distinction between each and nothing was too close. the vocals were very nice at times as well, but then there ... read more
i find it a bit overrated, but very enjoyable. i dont really have anything bad to say about this; its far from flawless, but i have no major complaints. no major complements either.

a revolutionary album. there was such a beautiful theme to this whole project. each melody was unique and engaging, and the lyrics were a work of their own. nothing really seemed off at all, all of the songs were focused. the beach boys knew exactly what they were doing on this record, and ended up delivering one of the best and most influential albums of all time.
fav tracks: wouldnt it be nice, sloop john b, here today
praise all that is holy, we got a surprise "new" project from kendrick lamar. in the past year, the compton rapper has risen to legendary status after his masterpiece, to pimp a butterfly, spread worldwide and recieved almost unanimous critical acclaim. and now lamar released a project of b sides that are presumably throwaways from his last LP. and every single one of them is great. i can totally understand why none of them made the cut: they just dont have the same warm charged ... read more
EDIT: this is a masterpiece of samples mashed together to form one of the best instrumental albums of all time. definitely one of my most listened projects, as it is practical for listening during every possible situation.
i really didnt know what i expected when i went into this record. i didnt know that it was instrumental, so of course you can understand that i was a bit confused when, 4 songs in, i didnt hear any rapping. but a quick search of the album gave me all the information that ... read more
i went into this expecting 3-4 bangers with mostly filler. i was totally wrong. A$AP Ferg is a very underrated rapper, and talent in general. rocky gets a lot of the spotlight, when ferg seems to have a much clearer vision of what he wants to do. this LP had endless amounts of energy coming out of it, almost every song was a banger that was a really great listen. ferg isnt the best lyricist at all, but his flow is pretty great in my opinion. there were a few slip ups here and there, but ... read more
boring. got old too quick and there were no standout songs. the concept of the LP was gimmicky and the songs didnt even have much to do with it.
