Cool idea, piss-poor execution. Nobody will listen to this outside of the year 2019.
It's pretty hard for me to rate kpop objectively based on the irrational and subhuman stan culture that surrounds it. Yes, if you are a kpop stan I view you as less than human. Sorry, but tweeting about a group 20x a day and using all the trending tags to promote a corporate creation is a waste of oxygen. Not to mention my previously aired comments about the intense & inorganic nature of the Korean music industry.
Despite my gripes, I really do try to find some kpop music that will ... read more
EDIT: Jesus Fucking christ people. I retract all of the original review. This is a perfect album (100/100).
My biggest problem was the 6 year gap between the leak and official release. Waiting 6 years does nothing to further your career, nothing to better the situation, and my first thought was "Hmm 6 years later and its released out of nowhere. He needs money." I get that there are personal issues that come into play, but I really dont care about that. If Jai Paul truly wanted ... read more
This is the type of album Denzel Curry was destined to make. Since starting in Rvidxr Klvn back in 2011, the South Florida flavor has come and gone from project to project. ZUU is 100%, unapologetically Miami Dade. This is my AOTY so far because there isn't a single dud. Speedboat is my least favorite track but its far from weak. This is the album I'm gonna be bumping all summer.
Ghostemane tries a new genre again for the month of May, this time its a stripped down, minimal neofolk. I don't have much to say about this, but it doesn't even come close to being as impressive as last month's Fear Network. His lyrics are pretty bland, and the instrumentals are so bare and never exciting or even melodic.
Oh my god... three absolutely brutal hardcore songs from Ghostemane. This EP has No hip hop to be seen and Ghoste is backed by a full band (with some particularly insane drumming). He's really going all out as far as artistic freedom goes and he's doing the new genre justice. Ghostemane was in a hardcore band before he was a rapper, and although I haven't heard any of that band's music, the previous experience shows that he definitely knew how to put together a good song and is now bringing ... read more
Anyone else seeing the stuff X’s mom has been doing since he died? Never heard a thing from her when he was alive, and now that she’s getting that estate money she’s all over the place. Blocking a paternity test so she doesn’t have to give some of X’s money to Gekyume’s mother. Requesting for the vehicle he was murdered in to be returned. She’s also the one getting all the royalties off Skins, an obviously unfinished cash grab.
i’m not a big ... read more
Bad attempt to combine punk and hip hop. I don't mind the screaming that has become commonplace in many underground rap songs, but this EP goes above and beyond that. $uicideboy$ rapping only sounds cornier and cornier when surrounded by guest vocalist (Munky) on half of the tracks screaming his head off. After hearing that song that sampled Fantano I thought this could be a decent project, however it is more proof that $uicideboy$ are a gimmick-driven group that can't really create a ... read more
YG yet again makes a safe album that isn't really showing any progression in his sound. The production is mostly standard, but there are definitely some great beats to be found on this thing. YG as a rapper is just so boring and lacking any of the energy and charisma that so many West Coast rappers proudly flaunt in their music. The song "Keisha Had a Baby" immediately reminded me of the 2pac song "Brenda's Got a Baby" and the songs serve as the perfect juxtaposition of ... read more
When my mother was pregnant with me the others in the family told mother to abourt me. My mother said no. Mother dedicated this song to me. She always quoted from this song " I'm keeping my baby". She still is a great Mom still today. :)
