Stunning, not huge on Have a Cigar, but it is still brilliant regardless
A brilliant way to introduce someone to the world of Bowie
Snoozefest. Did very little for me and left me begging for the album to end. 2 ½ hrs of my life that I'll never get back
A conflicting release, this album was enjoyable enough whilst listening to it but there was a constant desire for it to end, and no want to return to it afterwards. Perhaps on a future listen it will rebound and captivate me more, but for now it is little more than nice sounding noise
A really solid release - beautiful sounds that mirror Obongjayars unique vocals brilliantly
Honestly this didn't really captivate me until the final few tracks - I expected big things given the reviews and it fell short. Still a promising release, but not as good as expected sadly
Good fun, but lacking in many aspects. At times forgettable, but overall it isn't too shabby. Worth a listen to find some tracks that'll stick with you
I'll admit was a little pessimistic coming into this - I recognised the album cover in a charity shop by chance and decided to look up the album and give it a listen. This album is almost unfairly good at times, mind-blowingly addictive and utterly captivating in ways that few albums ever have achieved - it is a pure piece of art that should be listened to by everybody at least once. It doesn't quite reach the 100 many feel it deserves due to some slightly unnecessary 'quiet zones' where very ... read more
A beautiful amalgamation of sounds - utterly captivating and a brilliant listen. Check it out!
A really strong end to the White Stripes discography - some tracks here are absolutely stellar and even the weaker tracks are still pretty decent. The title track absolutely deserves the 99 rating it currently has!
Give the monkeys some credit, this isn't too bad!
This is going to sound weird, but the best thing to do with this album is not to listen to it. Put it on and let it play in the background, and within the dub beats you'll pick up on the occasional snippet of a Gorillaz track, piquing your interest before zoning back out to whatever you were doing. I find this album perfect as background noise - and that is meant in the best way possible. It doesn't do anything exciting and the beats are ... read more
Daffodils are back with yet another strong EP, again producing unique sounds that instantly place their tracks as one of their own. This solidifies them as one of my favourite things to come out of NZ, and I look forward to a full-length album if it comes!
It's good, but not as mindblowing as I hoped. Fell In Love With a Girl is an absolute banger of a track though
It sounds almost exactly as you would expect an album from Jack to sound - and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The track with Q-Tip stood out as a bit more unique, and I really enjoyed the closing track, but overall it was nothing spectacular, just good. Worth checking out, but it won't blow you away.
This probably deserves to be higher, but as I don't speak German the lyrics are completely lost on me. It does have a really strong sound though, coupled with good production and an engaging voice - making this an enjoyable listen even when you have no clue what is being said.
Ddim yn siwr os ydw i'n hoffi'r Saesneg wedi'i dotio o le i le yn yr albwm, ond ar y cyfan mae'n albwm Cymraeg weddol cryf. Mae na cwpl o draciau gwan, a rhai sy'n sefyll allan yn gryfach hefyd, ond ar y cyfan mae'r traciau yn eitha solid. Mae'n teimlo ar adegau bod na diffyg cyfeiriad - mae'n anodd gweld beth mae'r albwm yn cesio bod, mae'r swn yn newid lot a does dim lot o cysondeb i'w glywed. Ar y cyfan, mae'n albwm weddol dda, ond sai'n siwr os byddaf yn dod yn ol i wrando eto yn y dyfodol. ... read more
Funky and groovy, but doesn't really hit the heights you would hope. It's solid enough, but not really spectacular.
