The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
90

It's about time I started listening through the Beatles discography and fate has decided that Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is where I begin.

This album is certainly an intriguing listen to say the least, it's a journey that brings us some pretty obscure sounds for the time it was made, especially considering how massive of a band the Beatles were. Instrumental wise this album is great, it's fun when it needs to be, it's different by incorporating all sorts of sounds and it's sombre ... read more

Quelle Chris & Chris Keys - Innocent Country 2
70

So Quelle Chris is back with his latest project Innocent Country 2. I had no reason to not enjoy this project as in the past Quelle Chris has shown that he's one of the best talents out of the underground hip-hop scene and I really enjoyed his previous album, 2019's Guns.

Quelle Chris does his thing on here, his flows are very solid and his lyrics are pretty good too. All this is backed up by some very pretty soulful, jazz inspired and abstract production that seems very piano driven a lot of ... read more

Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters

Implicit Doom - What Do You Know About Death
50

While I do think there are some decent moments and some creative aspects of the production there's plenty of work to be done. Some of the instrumentals drum patterns sound pretty flat and a lot of the piano melodies seem very simplistic. The atmospheric tracks on here though are pretty good and there's plenty of decent sampling and synth melodies choices which I can appreciate

Best Tracks: Saturation(P1 and P2), Side Affects and Bandito

Worst: Goodbye

The Globs - The Weird and Wonderful World of The Globs
70

Damn. I really didn't expect to enjoy this album as much as I did.

The Weird and Wonderful World of The Globs is definitely one of the funnest Emo/Punk albums that I've heard so far this year, the charisma and the energy of the vocal performances and the instrumentals are astonishing. There was not one moment of filler on here, it's all killer, it all just kept a big fat smile on my face the whole way through. The instrumentals are loud and grand yet they have such a serene and bright feel, ... read more

AZIZ - Life After God (O.G.)
NR

The eerie atmospheric of the track kept me reeled in and I really liked the dark tone of a lot of the sounds incorporated in the second half of the track. Not bad by any means

Ed O'Brien - Earth
60

So big man Ed O' Brien decided to take on the world with a brand new solo project. I was very excited for this album considering that I'm a pretty big Radiohead fan and for a while I've been meaning to delve into the groups work outside of the main bands discography. Now with this new album I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

The atmosphere of this album attempts to go for a more psychedelic approach and for the most part it works very well. The instrumentals are ... read more

TOOL - Fear Inoculum
60

While I think it's Tool's worst album it still has some good material.

I enjoy Fear Inoculum a fair bit, I got what I expected from Tool, that being some good prog metal instrumentation with some cool sounds and good vocal performances from Maynard. The album is too long if we're being real here and a lot of the interludes (which take almost half the album) are pretty unmemorable but I think it's made up for with some great songs and well made instrumentation. The guitars still sound really ... read more

Sam Hunt - SOUTHSIDE

Whatever Pitchfork is smoking I want some.

Sam Hunt's latest album is an absolute dumpster fire of bro country and country pop cliche's. This album epitomises why country is dying. The over-dramatic chorus', sickeningly cringe lyrics and overly produced instrumentals. Did this man really include DJ Mustard background chants on the song Body Like A Back Road. Sam crossing aesthetics of RnB, Pop and Trap with Country just sound so forced and poorly executed. Sam's dude bro personality is about ... read more

Conway The Machine & The Alchemist - LULU
70

Quiet the enjoyable EP Conway & The Alchemist cooked up, it's short and sweet.

Theres some really cool sounds in Alchemists signature style of production, it's sounds eerie and feels like it's for a Jaws type of atmosphere as illustrated by the cover. Conway gives us some very strong gritty performances with some clever bars, slowly but surely Conway is proving himself.

While it's not the best Griselda project I've heard it's certainly an enjoyable one.

Bladee - EXETER

So it's no secret that I've never been the biggest fan of Bladee or what Drain Gang have had to offer for the longest time, more so Bladee and Thaiboy than anyone else but as of late their music has slowly grown on me but I'm still not there yet. This new Bladee album just came out and off of my first listen I think it's a decent effort but it's not great.

Firstly I got what I expected from Bladee, his whiny synthetic vocals matching some blissful and dreamy production but on this album in ... read more

Thundercat - It Is What It Is
70

While a lot of the tracks on here don't really have much meat on the bones and feel way too short, Thundercat still manages to deliver a very groovy and hypnotic experience. His smooth vocals and god like bass playing make this album for me and I really messed with a lot of bright moments on the album especially Dragonball Durag and a lot of the features were great too.

Thundercat's style of music still remains as unique as it always was for today's standards, his signature sound is still ... read more

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
90

I was scrolling around on YouTube the other day and stumbled upon a video that was based on My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade. I knew who the band were for the longest time but I never even listened to a song of theirs until today. I didn't really expect much going into this but after I finished listening to it I can safely say that I'm shocked at how good this turned out to be.

First of all what struck me the most was how passionate the vocal performances, songwriting and ... read more

Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia
50

UPDATED REVIEW:
1st Listen:
That's quite a lot of praise I'm seeing. A bit too much praise if you ask me.

Future Nostalgia is an album that I could see myself returning to for it's aesthetic but not for the personality behind it. As far as I'm concerned Dua Lipa as a vocalist is very one dimensional and that made me lose interest after 3 tracks. Like what is Dua Lipa doing right now that's different than many other of her major contemporaries in mainstream pop? I don't see any aspects that ... read more

Discography Diaries #6: NOT GOODS
Album #34: ADHD by Joyner Lucas
Genre: Trap Rap
Date: 23/09/2020

Next in the NOT GOODS is ADHD by Joyner Lucas. Earlier on this year I had the displeasure of listening to this album and going into this I was expecting to have the same opinions on it. Well after listening to it, they've stayed the same and I had a review written up for this already, so instead of rewriting the same things I had to say about it months ago, here's the original ... read more

Bladee - Gluee
60

So, I'm continuing my revisit of Bladee's discography with his 2014 project Gluee. Initially when I listened to it I gave it a 5/100 because I thought that it was horrendous. Looking back on that I was extremely negative towards it at the time because I had the notion that because I hated Red Light and I would hate Gluee but after another listen, It's definitely not a bad album but I still have issues with it that I basically already brought up in my Eversince review.

Firstly I think that this ... read more

"@ChazzaMaate yeah as much as I've revisited this album over the years I've just never really liked it, the hits are good and there's some tracks that have grown on me over the years, but as a whole album it's just not that impressive in grander scheme of 2000's hip-hop to me. I've always felt like 50 himself was just a middling rapper that was often carried by his beats and artists in a similar lane as him like The Game put out much better records in this similar vein. People shitting on you for not liking this is to be expected, it's still considered a classic, it's whatever tho idrc, that's just how music discourse is for popular albums."
