Album #14: The Glowing Man
Genre: Experimental Rock, Post-Rock
Date: 12/07/2020
Time: 8:20 PM
We are almost at the finish, we are almost ready to conclude with this edition to the series, we are on the 2nd last album in Swans discography, The Glowing Man. The Glowing Man is an album that I'm not familiar with, I had no idea what this album was gonna sound like at all, I had no expectations but I had no reason to be worried as Swans have been very consistent with ... read more

Album #13: To Be Kind
Genre: Experimental Rock, Post-Rock
Date: 11/07/2020
Time: 5:40 PM
Oh boy, it's time for another big one and one that's considered a contender for the best in Swans discography, To Be Kind. To Be Kind has been a pretty big album since it came out, one of the most talked about and one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the last decade and lots of people seem to love the hell out of it. This was the final of the 3 albums that I had ... read more

Album #12: The Seer
Genre: Experimental Rock, Post-Rock
Date: 10/07/2020
Time: 6:45 PM
So we've made it to the 12th album in Swans discography, The Seer. So coming off of their previous release My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky which I personally felt was one of their most accessible records and a bit of a taste of what's to come, I wasn't sure what this record would sound like, from what I've seen people seem to love this record so I must've been in ... read more
This sounds like it was made on some shitty software that came with Windows XP
Legends Never Die is finally here, the posthumous album from the late Juice WRLD, an album that I was pretty sceptical about when going into it. I liked a lot of Juice WRLD tracks, he had a potential that most Emo rappers usually underutilised or squander, he was capable of putting out catchy hits most of which were freestyled, but why would I be sceptical? Well, Juice WRLD was never an album artist for me, I liked a lot of tracks from his albums but every time I listened to a Juice WRLD ... read more

Album #11: My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky
Genre: Experimental Rock, Post-Rock
Date: 09/07/2020
Time: 6:30 PM
The 11th album in Swans discography is next on the agenda and that album is My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky. This album is the first that Swans released after their longest hiatus in their career, I have a hard time seeing how they could top what is considered their best album Soundtracks for the Blind, an album that I see as a ... read more

Album #10: Soundtracks for the Blind
Genre: Experimental Rock, Post-Rock, Art Rock
Date: 08/07/2020
Time: 6:20 PM
It's time for album number 10 and the album that is often considered Swans absolute best album, Soundtracks for the Blind. This album is the 2nd of 3 albums that I heard previously before I started this run so I already knew what I was getting into and what this album was like. To say the least Soundtracks for the Blind is a journey, a distressing one ... read more
I wanted to like this album considering I liked his first Zerwee EP and I am a fan of Billy’s content but I just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it.

Album #9: The Great Annihilator
Genre: Experimental Rock
Date: 07/07/2020
Time: 6:45PM
It is time for album [insert run into the ground Beatles joke here] The Great Annihilator. With this album I wasn't really sure as to what I would be getting out of this, as with the previous LP's in Swans catalogue I was somewhat aware as to what I was receiving, more specifically when it came to sister albums. Would we be getting a new take at a different style of rock? Would ... read more

Album #8: Love of Life
Genre: Gothic Rock
Date: 06/07/2020
Time: 4:35 PM
Continuing on with my journey in Swans discography i'm at album number 8, Love of Life. If you couldn't tell already by the cover this is essentially a sister album to White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and I'm perfectly fine with that, Swans are no stranger to making sister albums like what Holy Money is to Greed and what Cop is to Filth. When it comes Love of Life, I think it's a ... read more

Album #7: White Light from the Mouth of Infinity
Genre: Gothic Rock
Date: 05/07/2020
Time: 7:45 PM
We are on album number 7, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity. With this album we see Swans continue with the Gothic Rock sounds that they toyed with on their previous efforts like Children of God and The Burning World, both of which I enjoyed and for this next album I was hoping for another solid take in this Gothic style and all in all just a great and ... read more

Discography Diaries #6: NOT GOODS
Album #38: Everything's Strange Here by G-Eazy
Genre: Indie Pop, Singer-Songwriter
Date: 27/09/2020
Time: 8:25 PM
The 2nd last album in the list of albums Fantano rated a NOT GOOD is G-Eazy's Everything's Strange Here. So G-Eazy is an artist who I've been familiar with for a minute now, the guy has never made an album that I would've considered good in the slightest, as I find a lot of what he does to be very bland, very ... read more
When they're not making themselves look like complete dipshits on Twitter, they are making some of the most bland, malformed and overproduced alt metal I have ever heard.
Best Track: Make It Out Alive (maybe)
Worst Tracks: All of them
Discography Diaries #2: Swans
Album #6: The Burning World
Genre: Neo-Folk, Gothic Rock
Date: 04/07/2020
Time: 2:30 PM
Now we see ourselves at what a lot of people would consider to be the most divisive record in Swans discography, The Burning World. This album is divisive to a lot of people for a number of reasons, Michael Gira himself despises this record and often disregards it from Swans' catalogue (hence why it's not on any streaming services), it sounds nothing like what Swans would ... read more

Album #5: Children of God
Genre: Experimental Rock
Date: 03/07/2020
Time: 7:45 PM
Album number 5 in Swans discog is where I see myself today and that album is Children of God. With this album I guessed there's a theme going on, with both the title and the cover hinting at a religious concept, but I didn't know what this album would sound like, would it be like any of their previous efforts? Would it strive for something completely different? To answer that I think ... read more
Yeah I'm not feeling this at all.
The late New York rappers debut album is a mixed bag of monotony, poor song structure and all in all just a lack of anything interesting to write home about. Personally I thought Meet the Woo 2 was a bad mixtape and I wasnt really expecting to get much out of this other than the same shit we've gotten already and just another artists untimely demise being used for profit. Looking down at the tracklist is an eye roll in itself as it's 19 tracks, his biggest ... read more

Album #4: Holy Money
Genre: Noise Rock, No Wave
Date: 02/07/2020
Time: 1:10 PM
So continuing with my run through Swans discography I see myself on their fourth effort Holy Money. With the last album Greed being a bit of a flop in my opinion I was hoping for something that could be a pick-me-up with the next record. With Holy Money we do get pretty much the same theme, concept and sound from Greed but I feel like it's a lot more enjoyable.
This album is ... read more

Album #3: Greed
Genre: Noise Rock, No Wave
Date: 01/07/2020
Time: 4:10 PM
So now we are on the third studio album from Swans, Greed and with Greed we see a change of pace from them, rather than sticking with the angry, shouty and heavy sound of their previous 2 records, Filth and Cop, we see Michael Gira and co branch out into a more brooding and dreary yet varied sound. Personally I enjoy some of the themes and stylistic attempts on Greed but it falls flat for ... read more

Album #2: Cop
Genre: Noise Rock, No Wave
Date: 30/06/2020
Time: 11:35 PM
Continuing on with my dive into Swans discography, we see ourselves at the bands sophomore release, Cop. With me enjoying the last album Filth a fair bit I was hoping that the next release would blow my expectations out of the water. Maybe it could be something a lot more heavy, a lot more grimy or a bit more disturbing. With Cop however it didn't really exceed my expectations but it's a ... read more

Album #1: Filth
Genre: Noise Rock, No Wave
Date: 29/06/2020
Time: 3:25 PM
It's time to embark on a brand new edition of the discography diaries series and this time around I was tasked with going through the discography of a band that is infamous for making some of the darkest and the most supposed cutting edge material that rock has to offer, that band of course is Swans, the brainchild of Michael Gira. The album that started it all is Filth and before my dive ... read more
