Smooth while still having energy, catchy while still maintaining it's experimentation. It's the whisky of rap, and it goes down smooth. It's got hard hitting anthems, more subtle tracks, interesting lyrical themes and some of the best production i've heard all year making this trip feel more like a Sunday stroll. However, even with all of these fantastic qualities, the music sounds very directionless. While the sound is consistent, the lyrical themes jump around from topic to topic, making some ... read more
This track alone has better production, better writing and an overall better vibe then the more filler tracks from White Trash. Although the "i'm in love with the feeling" part is pretty corny, the overall delivery and flow that this song provides is pretty nice. Plus those ending vocals are very nice.
My god, what a debut!
It's got all the punk energy of a Misfits record with the catchy hooks and infectious choruses of a Foo Fighters record, but with a little more danger and experimentation, it's almost criminal how much fun this album is. From the distorted wails of the bass to the tight drumming, and the crisp and punchy production, it'll have you destroying things all around your house, creating a mosh pit inside your own living room. And for music that comes from just two people, that's ... read more
If Royal Blood replaced their croony 'bad boy' swagger for a more vicious punk attitude, this is what they would sound like. Off the wall energy with wacked out lyrics about love, cocaine and friendship, with fantastic and distorted production that make this band sound like a monster on the loose. While it's not a lot to snack on, it's a fantastically frantic collection of bangers that will have you coming back again and again.

I am not going to pretend like I know anything about electronic music. It's a genre that really doesn't appeal that much to me, aside from a few exceptions (Daft Punk, some of Chemical Brothers). And this record doesn't really shake my opinion on that. Yeah, each track has a pretty interesting set of sounds that are great for the first 4 minutes or so, but become stretched out to infinity, making the record feel stretched out to more then a goddamn hour long. There are a couple of tracks here ... read more
Wow. Catchy hooks, memorable performances, and a more consistent sound while still keeping that manic energy that has made their previous records so much fun to listen to. It's a punchy, memorable and exciting record that could have only come from the mind of Jack White and company, with even the lyrics being much better then previous records. And everyone on this record is playing to the top of their game: Jack Whites drumming has becoming more punchy and direct, Alison Mosshart's vocals are ... read more
With a little more arrogance and a lot more distortion, this is both a step forward and a step back for the group. Lyrically, the band really only seems interested in singing and belting (impressively at that) about the usual rock fair, a problem that wasn't a major issue in their last record, but it's becoming apparent that this band really only cares about how the song sounds and less about what the song means. However, that being said, this album sounds great. The blasting guitars and strong ... read more
First off, if you haven't seen either Crank or Crank: High Voltage then you should do yourself a favor, get some friends round and watch those films back to back. Both of them are probably some of the most entertaining action films I've seen in a while. And Mike Pattons score for the second film both serves as a insane backdrop to an even more insane film, and a quacked out and oddball collection of tracks by themselves. With over 30 tracks spanning 54 minutes, tracks get in, switches your ... read more
If blues sounded like it was crafted by witches with distortion pedals, then it would probably sound a lot like this album. Jack Whites signature feel and song structures come through on this project, even though Alison Mosshart takes over vocal duties (for the most part). And every-time it doesn't astound you with its aesthetic alone, the memorable performances and explosive instrumentation is more then enough to warrant the existence of this glorious project.

An extremely interesting and experimental follow-up to Floss, feeling like the perfect combination between Live at the Dentist Office and Floss. It's got bangers with hard hitting production, but the mood is much more somber, low-key and laid-back, almost like it's trying to hid from itself. And while the experience is extremely entertaining, i'm glad the group did an EP of this type of material and not a full length, because this type of mood gets quite tiring after a while.

A pretty damn nice debut project. If you only know Injury Reserve because of Oh Shit, then you'll be surprised to see that this mixtape is more of a laid back, chilled out, jazzy type of record, with some really impressive lyrical ideas and a nice flow to the whole project. The production on this record as well is really solid (even if there are some questionable mixing choices). Although sometimes it's a bit too chilled out for my liking, hell at some points it sounds like the mixtape is going ... read more
The most loud, in your face and borderline bonkers Gorillaz album to date, it's a cracked out display of alternative anthems and loud bangers, while mixing in sensitive and intamite tracks too. If your wanting something just slightly out of the norm, this should be your next fix.

At times beautiful and subtly crafted, at other times glitched out and wild, it's a Gorillaz album that creates a world, and loves to live inside it. It's a world of eccentricities, full of vibrant and colorful layers of beauty, madness, intrigue, and most importantly fun.

Dead Kennedys were one of those groups that were one of the pioneering acts of punk, but on this record they sound like so much more. It's dark and dooming while stilling having the ruthless intensity and overbearing fastness of Dead Kennedys previous records. At points this album sounds literally insane, sounding like a fast approaching buzzbomb, and we are about to witness it's political explosion. In short, it's Dead Kennedys at their best, and at their most ruthless. It's one of the most ... read more
Somehow Dead Kennedys have become even more aggressive, even more biting, even more politically savvy, even more dangerous and even more amazing with this EP. Even though it's only 17 minutes, it's still a glorious display of breakneck intensity that will make many punk fans sequel with glee.

Abrasive, fast, aggressive and with more bite and bark then a rabid dog, while still somehow being accessible and fun to listen to, with all the political bite and sharp writing that would go on to inspire and astound thousands, if not being slightly offensive in the process. Yep, it's a Dead Kennedys record, and it's a damn good one.

My god, this is boring. Not a single song (except for maybe Mexican Fender and Feels like Summer) stands out in anyway. Thr lyrics are bad, the music is boring, the production mediocre. Why does Weezer think that bland and boring music is 'album of the summer' material?
Favorite Jams: Mexican Fender, Feels Like Summer
Lest Favorite: can't remember anything apart from Mexican Fender and Feels Like Summer
Eh? It's got some really great tracks (hell, tracks 1-7 are some of the best material we have gotten from this group), and it does house some interesting ideas (mostly political, but ideas none the less). But...eh? It's mostly just filler. And for a band as good as A Perfect Circle, a album filled to the brim with filler really is not a good sign for the supposed 'Tool' record we may or may no be getting this century. Either way, this album is kinda...meh.

This is the first Imagine Dragons album I've listened to in full, and I can safely say that I have no desire to listen to anymore. What Imagine Dragons have here is a collection of boring, bland, unoriginal, and grey-feeling pop songs that feel like going to the dentist. And really, isn't that what you want in your pop album? No. That's not what I wan't in my pop. Please stop letting this band define what pop rock is in 2010, because it's too painfully boring to bear.
