My god. This thing is probably one of the best written rap EP's i've heard in a long time. Each song is so lyrically loaded that it sometimes is so loaded that I had to take breaks. With jazzy and technical production to pave the way for Black Thought's meaningful and punchy verses. The EP is only 17 minutes, but it is some of the most thought provoking and interesting 17 minutes that 2018 has provided us with. It demands your entire focus and attention, and you'll be glad it did.

This is the first time i've really sat down and truly listened to a project by Aphex Twin, and by god is this thing extremely impressive. Logistically thinking about how someone would create these sounds is mindbending, being the first time I can legitimately say that I was 'impressed' by a electronic EP, with each track creating a dreamy, technical world that Aphex play's around in like a child in a Lego set. And while it doesn't hold a lot of emotional weight due to there being no lyrical ... read more
I'm not gonna lie: i've never heard of any of these artists before boygenius. They are probably prominent and extremely impressive people in the field of indie rock, but it's not a genre I regularly listen to. But I decided to listen to this on a whim due to literally everyone saying how this is the "best thing since sliced bread" (plus going through Fantano's EP list, because i'm literal scum that can't have a true opinion as I watch someone on YouTube). To say I was critical going ... read more
I feel like this is what new wave music is going to sound like in the modern age. Dark, metallic and heavily techno produced pop bangers with dark (if not slightly ridiculous) subject matters. In a lot of ways this reminds me of a even more wacked out and crazy version of Adam Ant, Sparks or Devo. It's goofy, strange, out there, and defiantly not for everyone. But, when you click into it's synth heavy goofball-esq fun, then there is a lot to appreciate about this EP. It's punchy and strange, ... read more
I had my jaw on the floor the entire time I listened to this for the first time. It's such a choatic, punchy, fun, interesting and sound defining EP that took me completely by surprise. From the literal insane soundscapes of Rude to the pop banger of O, this EP takes your mind on a ride through Shygirl's exciting new soundscape that will leave you wanting more. For fans of the more chaotic side of SOPHIE, then here is a new artist to look into. I cannot wait until Shygirl's full length, as this ... read more
This being my entry to Moses Sumney's music, this is a pretty good first impression. While I wish the EP was slightly longer, and wished that some musical ideas would have been developed further, this short EP get's me excited for where Moses is going next. Sonically it's a luscious and well constructed piece of jazz infused art-pop that have some of the best production i've heard in a while. It's eerie yet blissful, catchy yet artistic and very interesting to say the lest. However, the lyrical ... read more
This being my first Melvin album, there is a high chance that I just don't understand it. But, with three covers on this album, and only 6 songs, this feels a little underdeveloped. I understand that the first two tracks are a landmark in stoner metal and drone music, and those are two of the best tracks on the album. But the meat and potatoes are covers, and while not a bad thing, it leaves a little more to be desired in terms of musical input. Which is a shame, because when the album does ... read more
While it's not as polished or as whole as Deftones later releases, Adrenaline does deliver on the albums namesake. It's still far ahead of what else was coming out in 1995. It's got traces of what Deftones would blossom into, with a little more grit, a lot less direction, but a little more aggression. Chino Moreno still unnerves with his signature whispery/rap styled vocals and scares us with his guttural screams, with the instrumentation sounds dark, heavy and pained, with heavy guitar hooks ... read more
It's pretty good. If your into 80s electronica, then there is much worse in the genre. The production and soundscapes of this EP are quite enjoyable, with it being reminiscent of John Carpenter or Carpenter Brut. While it's not something i'll be returning to fairly often, it's still a decent listen.

It's pretty good, if not a bit cheesy. Complex while still somehow being accessible, the first real album from Dream Theater is a prog-rock blast that will leave many prog fans satisfied. From the intricate solos to the overall complex arrangements to even the lyrical themes, it's an album that rewards and demands your full attention. It switches from intricate, precise and staggering heavy epics to cheesy power ballads in a heartbeat, making for a unique listening experience. But while the ... read more
With an interesting concept, clever writing and fantastic production to boot, this record shows that Tabby is much more then just "another YouTube rapper". Orange Boy's side brings such punch, energy and intensity that at times its almost breathtaking, with laugh out loud lines ("Suck on my Abstract dick") and a dark, unhinged delivery that is reminiscent of the more quirky and dark artists of the early 90s (especially in airmax 97), with Tabby's delivery greatly improving ... read more
While at sometimes it does sounds quite clique, (especially for a genre like trash) what it does make up for those shortcomings is oodles of fast, relentless and unstoppable fun. The instrumentation is spot on and as tight as what you would expect in this genre, while the vocals have the grit and aggression that makes you want to punch a hole in the wall. However, the lyrical department, while fitting for the music, is somewhat lacking, sounding like it came straight out of The Misfits book of ... read more
It's dreamy, catchy, calming, fun, charming and very interesting. You never know where the song is gonna go next, and each musical idea is displayed so effectively and creatively, it's hard not to be astounded. It's both beautiful and energetic all at the same time, with the quality of the music never dipping. If you want something a little more airy and easy going while still being odd and creative, here is your 30 minute dream.
This album is wild. Going in with no expectations, I was blown away from the jazz/pun fusions frantic, off the wall, literally insane sound. It sounds like it belongs in a mental asylum, and it's glorious. From the quacked out vocals to the at times luscious, at others destructive instrumentation that is both beautiful and extremely dangerous. When you start to click into the albums groove, you notice that it is really more then just noise, with the complex instrumentation and Japanese vocals ... read more
Sounding like Radiohead writing for Frank Ocean, it's a critical but never nihlist look at modern culture, with enough neosoul and jazz influences to make this dreamy and classical-tinged pop album feel a lot more then what's going on under the surface. Filled with ochestral arangments and the usual rock instrumentals, it's sometimes pinpoints what it's like to be a teenager in the modern age, and sometimes becoming somewhat like a more interesting (if not slightly more cheesy) Coldplay. And ... read more
Looking up "Fuck" into Spotify is a journey that has lead itself to some strange results. Some are great, some are bad. This is one of the more positive ones, as what we seem to have here is a pretty good and in your face digital-punk record. With instrumental elements of math-core, 8-bit, emo and full on punk, and the vocals switching from a cheerleader chant to banshee scream, it's a glitched out and noisy affair that is as catchy as it is chaotic, with the instrumentation here ... read more
If your looking for a more out there, experimental and wacked out Queens of the Stone Age record, then this is your cup of tea. It's almost QOTSA, but with a little more danger, a little more grime, a little more experimentation, and a lot more weird. However, as oddball as it is, it still has a distinct lack of focus and polish to make it feel anymore then a Queens side project (which this clearly is). There is a lot more emphasis on instrumental works then it is about creating hooks and ... read more
Holy shit. If you thought that Nine Inch Nails or Daughters were loud, then wait till you've heard this "band". This is music you play at the loudest possible volume on your speakers and wait until your head explodes. Despite the fact the music comes from one guy, it never feels restrained or limited. It's a distorted collection of punch in your face electronic goodness that will leave you with a black eye and a broken leg after listening to it. With pitch black lyrics and production ... read more
I think the bands last record showed that Death From Above are much more then creating a series of noisy, bass filled bangers, and by God do they push themselves here, creating some of the bands most tight, catchy and fun tracks in their whole discography. Each member is giving their all, with Sebastien Grainger giving some of the best vocals of the bands history, all while providing some tight and catchy drum beats against Jesse F. Keeler insanely fun bass playing and synth noodling that will ... read more
This is a tricky record. On one hand it's a rip roaring and highly entertaining rock record that captures the frenetic energy that this band can capture, with some of the performances here being jaw dropping at times. The production, bass and drum performances and vocals are spot on, with almost a shocking amount of swagger, joy and full on fun. The record is fulled to the brim with banger after banger, with the band maturing to write more interesting lyrics to On the other, this record as a ... read more
