Weezer's latest record is still one of the most enjoyable albums of 2021.
The path of redemption is over and the band has, in a sense, a clean slate going into the future.
Considering how thoughtful and complete the last album was, "Van Weezer" seemed to me to be a project the band creates to just have fun. And finishing the listen I still have the same thought. It just sounds like a passion project.
And if that's what the band was aiming for, then by all means they achieved a ... read more
It's time to stop treating these 100s as a holiness that is only available to 0.1% of the album crowd.
I gave Black Country, New Road a 100.
And you want me not to give 100 to this one?
I love the fact that with each song we actually get two. Or even three. In this year where so much post-punk is coming out, this album sounds so fresh and so distinctive from everything else so far.
'2010' and 'Pamphlets' are some of the best songs I've heard this year.

Is it only me or does it sound like bunch of demos put together in 10 minutes to show their record label that: " We are doing stuff. Pls don kill"

Gonna play this while entering Vault 13 and waiting for the nukes to drop.
Certified hood classic.
Sounds like something released in the middle of the 2010s.
It's all a bit flat, isn't it?
Honestly, I couldn't focus on the first few tracks at all and forgot that I was listening to a novelty, which I should later somehow evaluate.
Maybe two or three songs remained in my memory.
"Garden" is one of them.
It's a pity. The sound from those years done again with freshness could've been something interesting.
Electropop. Computer-processed vocals, shredded samples and sounds of an old broken pc arranged as if someone's finger got stuck in the spacebar.
That's all that can be said about any other unremarkable album of the genre.
But not about this one.
The very arrangement of the album says that Proter is not as close to pop as the name suggests.
We have here as many instrumentals as vocal singles.
And even these singles are a bit out of the genre. So, looking at the whole album, a simple ... read more
