In my personal opinion, the quintessential dream pop album.
This record seems very polarizing. You have people like me who absolutely love the production, beauty, and songwriting of it, and you have people who think it's the most boring shit they've ever listened to—which, for both sides, is very fair and justified. Even in my intense positive feelings toward this record, I can acknowledge Hope Sandoval is not the most expressive singer of all time and is definitely very ... read more
System Of A Down, please release new music. :(
Everyone already knows what makes this album amazing, so I won’t yap for long. In short: it’s catchy as hell, features flawless political songwriting, some of the best metal vocals ever, solid production, and massive commercial success. There are so many 10/10 songs on here. Everyone knows how great the hits are—“Chop Suey!”, “Toxicity”, and “Aerials”—but even the deep cuts like ... read more
I slept for like two hours and woke up at 1:43 AM and decided to check RYM for noise rock albums like that would make me go to sleep insomnia is hitting hard
Anyways I loved this thing but I also just have a huge noise rock bias so that's probably it because I really couldn't understand a word she was saying
Favorite Track: Spathic!!
Least Favorite Track: Chipped Zoo on the Wall, Wastes in the Sky................
I know I’m supposed to like this album more, but I genuinely don’t understand the hype around it at all. Outside of the production, this is a pretty average record that’s been massively overpraised over time. And yes, I know this is going to sound pretentious and contrarian, but I’m being honest.
The production is undeniably incredible—some of the best hip-hop beats ever made—but that’s doing almost all of the heavy lifting here. The lyricism itself ... read more
Its just okay...
okay production, okay vocal preformances, lyrics that are emotionally vulnerable but for some reason dont make a strong impact on you etc. Those beavis and butt head sketches are weird though
Favorite Track: Confused!
Least Favorite Track: Red Sabbath
My Wu-Tang bias needs to be studied.
The “Gizzer,” to quote Cal Chuchesta, released what I believe to be one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the ’90s—and of all time across all genres. It’s just a really freaking great album. It’s everything you need and nothing you don’t. The production on this thing, handled by RZA, is second to none. This might genuinely be the best-produced album in the entire genre. Beats like Liquid Swords, Living in the World ... read more
I'm not gonna yap about why this is one of the greatest shows of emotion since Vespertine or something it's just a really amazing mix of Avant Garde Jazz and more accessible forms of Jazz
Depression has never felt so amazing.
In Rainbows is an incredibly compelling album to me—it feels like OK Computer, Amnesiac, and Kid A blended into one cohesive and beautiful project. The melodies and production are outstanding, and the vocals are consistently excellent, with Thom Yorke proving why he’s one of the best vocalists of all time. The lyricism and the quiet, mesmerizing beauty of the tracklist are what truly elevate this album, pushing it to a strong 10/10 and making ... read more
My favorite pop album of all time.
Kate Bush is no doubt a top 10 artist of all time. She has everything: the storytelling ability, one-of-a-kind, super influential vocals, commercial success, great production on even her worst albums, and especially lyricism. Never for Ever is the peak of all of those skills in my opinion.
I adore Hounds Of Love for perfecting the synth/art pop (I hate this word, but) aesthetics of the '80s, but I personally prefer Never For Ever's ambition, ... read more
“Hey guys, why don’t you feel any sympathy for the racist, transphobic, anti-abortion political debater?”
Seriously this mixtape has such an impressive feature list. DMX, Black Thought, Pusha T, MF DOOM, Joey Valence & Brae, with production credits from RZA, Conductor Williams, Madlib, KAYTRANADA, & No I.D.That make Cheat Codes insecure about its feature list. Lots of bangers on this thing as well especially Clover.
This could very easily be a 10/10 with more listens.
First of all, this is some of the best production I've ever heard in hip-hop or otherwise. It's so dark and disgusting, like the beats were summoned by the devil himself, especially in the case of the laughter on Sweet Robbery, Pt. 2. The tags "dark," "satanic," "occult," "disturbing," and "scary" describe the production and the album as a whole perfectly. Tracks like Gotta Touch ... read more
This album sounds like a YouTuber could've made it.
Truth be told, there are songs that are more bearable than others on this album; but the lows like "Ratchet" "Turn Around" "Body and Soul" & "Syrup" are some of the worst EDM songs you'll ever hear period.
Also for some reason it's really horny at times which I'm not against but here its just disgusting
I’ll give this one a few more listens because I feel underwhelmed, even if I am still positive on it as a whole. I really don’t care for the spoken word bits or the vocals as a whole. Really, the only thing that stands out is the production. Jesus Christ, the production is so fucking good — but not even on every track either, so I don’t know how I feel about this thing.
People really love the lyricism on this thing, and I don’t see why. Maybe it’s just ... read more
The sex offenders have done it again.
Led Zeppelin II is my favorite Led Zeppelin project—though Led Zeppelin IV might be a contender for that spot. but I’d need to relisten to fully decide. Led Zeppelin II stands out for many of the same reasons that make Led Zeppelin I, III, and IV amazing: the huge bluesy hard rock riffs, the powerhouse drumming, those influential vocals, and solid songwriting. But what makes this album my personal favorite in their catalog is the catchiness, ... read more
Poppy delivers another solid hooky industrial metal album. Not a style I'm totally into
He just sounds like Lil Wayne in the corniest most irritating way possible
I don't feel like writing a review for this shit its so mediocre that it pisses me off and I don't even hate Drake I think NWTS is one of the best hip-hop albums of the entire 2010s
My most streamed album of all time. Here's a review of every song even if it has been said a million times before.
#1 Wesley's Theory: (100/100)
When talking about great album openers, you always see N.Y. State of Mind, One More Time, Hidden Place, What's Going On, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Running Up That Hill, etc. But Wesley's Theory is always brought up no matter what, and it's for good reason. It's truly iconic and the best way to open up this project, ... read more
Really inconsistent project.
J. Cole is a rapper I’ve always been mixed on. I do think he’s a talented lyricist, a competent hit maker, and a solid storyteller, but he only showcases those strengths occasionally. On most of his projects, he completely falls short of his potential, and that trend is nowhere more noticeable than on KOD. Here, he tries to go introspective and, for the most part, fails.
Sure, he does have solid lyrical performances at times—specifically on ... read more
