One of the craziest, off the wall, intense, dense, complex, absolutely insane and gloriously absurd albums not only Devin has made, but anyone has made this decade. With guests and musicianship that will make even the most hardened metalhead gush, this is a record that further shows that Devin Townsend is the mad scientist of the metal scene, and he's not scared to try out even his weirdest experiments.
Favorite: Everything (Especially Deconstruction, The Mighty Masturbator, Stand)

A grandiose and epic record that could be one of the grandest and epic-est albums from Devin in a long while. It's got flair, swagger and passion to kill a elephant, and it's got all that and more, in a highly polished record that demands multiple listens.
Favorite Jams: Stormbending, Failure, Higher
Lest Favorite: Secret Sciences
In one word: Fun. In multiple: Devin Townsend gives one of the danciest, peppiest, most accessible and just god-damn fun albums in his whole discography, and many of these tightly crafted ear worms are going to be neatly placed into your brain until the mind simply stops working. It's damn fun.
Favorite Jams: Supercrush!, The Way Home!, Bend It Like Bender!
Lest Favorite: Resolve!
This album creeps on you. When you think it's going to slow, it creeps up and jolts you. When you think it's too loud, it's slinks away into the shadows. When you think it's not grand enough, it brings in a full choir without you noticing. And when you think it can't improve on it's sound, Devin Townsend grandly tells you to "Suck It" as he gives on of the best albums of his career.
Favorite Jams: Heaven Send, Gato, Ki
Lest Favorite: Ain't Never Gonna Win
(This is for the double album, not just Z2).
Sky Blue:
While there is not a lot here that will really stand the test the time (at lest when compared to the rest of Devin's discography), it's a perfectly inoffencive and harmless record that is pleasing to the ears and not that much more.
Favorite Jams: Rejoice, Universal Flame, Before We Die
Lest Favorite: Forever
Z2:
Not only is it a great sequel to one of the wackiest tales in Devin Townsend's book, it's a great prog-rock opera on it's ... read more
One of Devin's most complete, most finished, most thought out and most finely tuned statement to date, with this album feeling like the epitamy of everything Devin has been striving to say for years. It's fun, dense and gloriously energetic prog-rock, that could stand the test of time as one of Devin's best records.
Favorite Jams: Kingdom, Liberation, Grace
Lest Favorite: Lessons
While the production is something to be desired, this is one of the most entertaining and fun-filled metal records Devin has ever put out, from the over-the-top spiritual-filled plot (An alien unleashing an intergalactic WWIII over a cup of coffee) to the tight delivery and great composition from Devin Townsend. It's a journey that you'll want to take again and again. Praise Ziltoid!
Favorite Jams: Solar Winds, Color Your World, By Your Command
Lest Favorite: N9
It's a soily, earthy and deeply nature-filled record on display here. It almost oozes grass and passion on every track here. You can imagine yourself at a nice swamp, delving deep into it's murky yet completely natural layers, discovering it's many complexity and adoring all of it's twists and turns. In short: Really good.
Favorite Jams: Earth Day, Nobody Here, Deep Peace
Lest Favorites: Down And Under
Well, this is a strange entity. Not only does it borrow elements from Jazz, Show-tunes, and straight prog-metal, it still manages inside all the chaos to stay uncompromisingly Devin, even if it can lead to some self indulgence. But it's not for the faint of heart, so prepare yourself for space, time and everything in between in one record.
Favorite Jams: Life Is All Dynamics, Bad Devil, War
Lest Favorite: Noisy Pink Bubbles
At first glance, this seems like nothing more then a less exciting and less heavy version of Devin's better works. But when you give this album time and attention, it blossoms into something quite spectacular indeed. It's emotional, passionate, and extremely rewarding to delve into. A must for Devin enthusiasts.
Favorite Jams: Funeral, Bastard, The Death Of Music
Lest Favorite: Greetings
One of the most underrated Devin albums to exist. Not only does it combine the heaviness and passion of Devin Townsend's more notorious works with Strapping Young Lad, but also combines his love for more chilled back moments, and the juxtaposition between the two is what really makes this record one of Devin's most creative. It's every season all in one package, and most importantly, it's Earth as a record.
Favorite Jams: Let It Roll + Hypergeek + Triumph, Vampira, Pixillate

While a bit lacking in depth and creativity, Devin still pulls a great record out of his hat of many zany tricks, giving off some incredible performances, not only vocally (Sweet Jesus Deadhead) but also giving fantastic neck work on the guitar. (Sweet Jesus Away) It can become tedious at times, and it is for the type that doesn't mind the odd wank section on the guitar, but if you lock onto it's groove, then it's a very solid release from one of metals most creative frontmen.

Loud, heavy, silly, crazy, over the top, tightly performed, creative as hell, off the wall, and fun to the core. Seems like the only appropriate way to finish off Strapping Young Lad, and leave behind a legacy of craziness in it's wake that many have never dared to even come close to achieving. There's a lot of light to be found in The New Black.
Favorite Jams: Far Beyond Metal, Wrong Side, You Suck
Lest Favorite: Hope
Yeah, this album is legitametly insane. From the break-neck drums, to the ruthless guitar parts, to Devin's harsh, destructive lyrics and the always on point and absolutely spell binding vocal delivery, it's an album that spits on your face and yells at you to pay attention, and that's on a good day. Relentless in every way.
Favorite Jams: Love?, Possessions, Shitstorm
Lest Favorite: Shine
While not as polished, loud or as well delivered as some of SYL's later works, looking back at Devin's first real record, it's not that bad of a debut. It's got some great thrashers, a butt load of charm and a glimpse at the chaos that Devin could project. The title ain't wrong.
Favorite Jams: SYL, Skin Me, In The Rainy Season
Lest Favorite: Goat
It's probably the saddest, most depressing, and most emotional Radiohead album ever made, but somehow one of the more distant, reserved and personal albums in the bands discography, which makes for a somber yet highly interesting album to say the very lest.
Favorite Jams: Burn The Witch, Ful Stop, True Love Waits
Lest Favorite: Glass Eyes
With some of Radioheads best tunes, it's a politically charged record in a way only Radiohead could, with more mix ups and changes to their sound. Hell, this might be the bands most accessible albums since The Bends, while still keeping to the wacked out and strange sounds that Radiohead have perfected.
Favorite Jams: 2 + 2 = 5, A Wolf at the Door, Sit Down. Stand Up
Lest Favorite: Where I End and You Begin
While it's hard to dispatch this album from Kid A, Amnesiac is no mere b-sides album. It's an album with depth, with even more experimentation and even more tinkering with an already tinkered sound, to the point of ludicrous-y, in the best way possible.
Favorite Jams: Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box, Pyramid Song, Morning Bell / Amnesiac
Lest Favorite: Hunting Bears
Is it clique to say that OK Computer is a rock classic, with lyrical potency that rings strangely true to this day, and the instrumentation and experimentation to further throw Radiohead into the depths of rock stardom? It may be clique, but it's a clique statement that needs to be said.
Favorite Jams: Paranoid Android, Exit Music (For a Film), Climbing Up The Walls
Lest Favorite: Fitter Happier
Not only does it improve with leaps and bounds over the bands debut, it also gives Radiohead's sound something vitally important and fantastically unique: A reason to exist. They weren't just playing rock bangers anymore, they were playing rock bangers with purpose.
Favorite Jams: Fake Plastic Trees, Street Spirit (Fade Out), The Bends
Lest Favorite: Sulk
