Mount Kimbie - Cold Spring Fault Less Youth
80

The come to explore a more organic feel to all of the songs presented on this album, showing they can maintain their roots and still make this shift without sacrificing what this duo has going in their favor. It's really good.

It works really well that they use more vocals on these songs, even some features from King Krule. The features on this album are amazing and work on their favor to establish more emotionally driven songs, and there are some takes when they use their own voice on songs ... read more

Mount Kimbie - Crooks & Lovers

I really like how Mount Kimbie explores so much in such a subtle way. They make some UK Dubstep on this one and push a little bit the boundaries to expand the concept, and have a really fun and well made album.

The production is kind of low fi and it really works, the way they work all of the songs is odd, yet very well made; the whole album is really dynamic from start to finish, and it shows the potential the electronic duo has.

Highlights: Carbonated, Tunnelvision, Blind Night Errand, ... read more

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me

I went to this album kind of unprepared, without knowing what it would offer me, but it's so directly written that it hurts, and it hurts so much. In summary, it's about how he lost his wife months ago and a travesty through his pain and depression from start to finish.

The way he delivers these events and moments on the album is the most heartbreaking and painful way possible, accompanied with a simple and slow instrumental and a slow pace to think about every line he sings, and to connect ... read more

AJR - The Click

This is the equivalent to live in a cheap and generic Disney type of movie. Like, it's the whole package, including cheap and overblown production, cringey lyrics and obnoxious voice/instrumentals.

The only thing I got to note is that all of the songs sounds the same to me, and it just makes this thing worse. Yeah. Don't listen to this, please.

Doug Walker - Nostalgia Critic’s The Wall

Let's say you're a 40-something dude with some internet recognition and your head on an acid pool (and hate The Wall), then you try to express your dislike for it on the craziest and most unlikeable way possible. Oh yes, and let this crazy dude to post that aberration... Man.

What the hell is this?

The "movie" he makes to parody the original is as ass as this malformed fetus of an album. But it's intentional, I guess...? Still ass tho.

So yeah.

Green Day - Father of All…

If this is not the worst album of the year, I don't know what the hell would be worse than this on recent music.

Is so fucking disappointing, given the marketing labeling this album as "100% pure uncut rock" and be the more 2000 thing to do, but... Man. It surpassed my expectations, but all the way to the core of the fucking Earth.

And don't misunderstand me, Dookie and AI are really good, really. "Uno, Dos, Tre"... Yeah, is still better than this thing.

It sure is a ... read more

No, Nav, making people sleep is not a good thing, get over it.

Tim Hecker - Virgins

Ambience as it most refined form on this decade. It's so pure and dark, beautiful and so varied for an ambient album. It demonstrates how strongly inmersive an ambient project could be, and Tim Hecker is one of the best for this task.

Starting with mellow, clear sounds that melt from one to another; a lot of body and depth for each track, and the way it comes across is simply beautiful.

Edit: Well, it has hit me harder listening to it on a melancholic night, and feels so beautiful in the ... read more

Bon Iver - Bon Iver, Bon Iver

I don't have many words to say about this one, just that is so brilliant. It got so many ideas, taking another complete 180 from their debut and make big, engaging music that demonstrates Vernon's emotions in such a genius way from the lyrics and amazing instrumentation.

I love how all of the lyrics play with my imagination and creates a different story from each song, it doesn't compromise you as a cryptic mess or anything like that. It just has an interesting and unique way to handle them to ... read more

This guys really made industrial hip-hop music and they fucking nailed it. This album is great.

It presents a lot of new ideas and, in a way, predicted how hip-hop would be now, making a huge, noisy project that it so weird yet so incredibly full of body and personality.

Starting with those amazing, manic instrumentals, Zach Hill really outdid himself on the drums, Ride's aggressive voice works perfectly as an instrument and the engineering behind this album is so noisy and unsettling at ... read more

Moderat - III

They finish this trilogy with a great, bold and tight set of sounds that set as the most varied of the three for me, and a really great album overall.

This one takes a more vocal focus on the trilogy, with a great execution and good lyrics overall; the production takes a step up from the other two and is more rich and deep, and it finishes this trilogy really strong with solid and amazing songs, overall.

Highlights: Reminder, Eating Hooks, Ghostmother, Animal Trails, Finder.

Moderat - Moderat
81

Moderat's debut album is a great showcase of what happens when you take two talented artists with great chemistry, they create some great experiments that comes as subtle dance tracks.

Is amazing how this album presents all of these ideas and make them work so well together. With great production, interesting mix of styles and great melodies from start to finish, is sure a great release.

Highlights: New Error, Rusty Nails, Slow Match, Les Grandes Marches, Out Of Sight.

Moderat - II

Moderat, this electronic trio is full of fresh and great ideas and this album is the perfect example of that. And the plus that this is all executed impeccably.

Starting with Bad Kingdom. In my top 10 songs of the decade like it's mandatory for me to do that. Second, the production and full delivery on this one is incredible.

The singing and lyrics are amazing, the various melody changes that still blends from one song to another is incredible, the production is grand yet tight... Is a ... read more

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening

YES. YES. YESYESYESYESYES. Y E S. YYYEEESSS. yes. Yes.

What an incredible mix of dance, punk and electronic music. It all arrives so simplistic yet so great. Starting with the godlike production that feels stupidly crisp and clean, the great insrumental work and simplistic yet great lyrics on this one, the amazing structure for the whole album and for each song... Is amazing, man.

This album really demonstrates how good of a band LCD Soundsystem is, and that they still got it.

Flying Lotus - Flamagra

This album sure has its incredible moments, but man... It feels so disjointed in some kind of way.

I love what he tries on this one and how he adapts his sound to another facet with a more varied sound than its predecessors, making a set of what I see as a great mix of everything he has done to date, and he really makes a great project. But for me, it doesn't stand as the best from him.

It feels too thick. It got a lot of tracks that clashes with other tracks in there and it kind of makes ... read more

Flying lotus takes out some jazz inspirations on this one and make it the main thing on this album. It works as you would expect from a big brain like FlyLo: holy shit man, this album is pure fire.

And not just because of "Never Catch Me" with the unreal Kendrick feature on this one, but the whole thing is huge fucking fire. With an incredible Thundercat help on the basslines for all of these songs, amazing huge sounds and a great, great variety of new sounds from Lotus.

Bad Bunny - YHLQMDLG

Well, this album makes good generic music, and it still stands out at a great reggaeton record from the Puerto Rican artist.

With fun tracks, a nice variety of songs on the album and in general a really good production on the whole thing, is a good project that will hit hard on discos or, well, in people's houses because... Well... Quarantine. Yeah.

The downside are the vocals. Bad Bunny's delivery with the autotune and kind of mumbly voice, it doesn't stand out too much to be honest on the ... read more

Bad Bunny - LAS QUE NO IBAN A SALIR

These leftovers didn't do it for me that much. They feel kind of unfinished at sorts and, overall, a mostly decent to regular set of b-sides. They fine tho, people would shake their ass to it, ye.

The production and overall delivery from Bad Bunny feels really messy in the format. It kind of lacks structure in some songs, but it doesn't leave the fact that is not a bad album at all.

Highlights: MÁS DE UNA CITA, BYE ME FUI, BENDICIONES, EN CASITA, BAD CON NICKY.

KAYTRANADA - 99.9%

What a good collection of dance and hip hop tracks, it's a great album for the boy Kay.

Starting for an amazing production that gets all of these tracks to get that punchiness to get on the dance floor and dance to death, a great variation of hip-hop, EDM, dance and house; and a really nice set of features that makes this album to extend itself really nicely, this is pretty nice.

The downside is Vic Mensa.
