Radiohead - The Bends
88

I'M ABOUT TO BUST!!!!!!!

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
91

holy shit why the fuck am i floating

85

Majestic and grandiose only begin to grasp at what this album sounds like.

NR

I haven't heard the record yet as I'm revisiting the back catalogue to see if this new record is TRULY as bad as everyone claims it is. Just because critics fawn over a record doesn't mean it's automatically a bad record sheesh. And if this is your first introduction to Baroness PLEASE do yourself a favour and listen to Blue or Purple. Pristine melodic sludge records and you are honestly doing yourself a disservice if you write off this band just because of a supposed poor mixing issue on their ... read more

Radiohead - Pablo Honey
67

Instrumentally: It's entirely palatable and even mildly interesting at times.

Lyrically: oh boy.

Stef Chura - Midnight
63

With Will Toledo on production!

Although some track really go in and I enjoy the lo-fi nature of the record, a good deal is also your run-of-the-mill tepid indie rock. Chura does have a distinct style all to her own though, it just sounds like it needs to be refined a bit more. Definitely one to continue watching.

AURORA - A Different Kind Of Human (Step II)
73

Gives me hope that CHVRCHES will get their shit together someday.

Don't look for anything too highbrow, it may be just another synthpop record, but the things are damn fun.

100 gecs - 1000 gecs
70

thank you anthony very cool!

Didn't know Rivers Cuomo was working with PC Music!

Feist - Pleasure
81

Ah yes, took me a while to be sad enough to enjoy this album.

Winona Forever - Feelgood
73

A rather buoyant collection of noisy indie rock tunes!

Jonas Brothers - Happiness Begins
47

It sure as hell doesn't begin here.

EDIT: WTF The Independent?!?!? "likely one of the best pop albums of the year" in a year with a CRJ release? Not on my watch.

Feist - The Reminder
88

this is honestly one of the best things to have come out of the Canadian indie pop renaissance no cap

Miley Cyrus - SHE IS COMING
52

Girl you seriously just finished making a Black Mirror episode on the corruption of the creative process and the value of individuality in the music industry and then proceed to drop the most formulaic pop shit anyone's heard so far this year? I'm flabbergasted.

Lolo Zouaï - High Highs to Low Lows
66

Despite tasteful trap-based production and a talented interpolation of both English and French vocals, Lolo Zouaï is unfortunately unable to fully transcend the clichés of contemporary, moody R&B.

Kishi Bashi - Omoiyari
74

Although not as grandly cohesive as I'd hoped, Omoiyari is a well-crafted set of indie pop tunes that speak to hope in a climate of despair.

Skepta - Ignorance is Bliss
68

was honestly expecting worse

Remo Drive - Natural, Everyday Degradation
48

No soul, no fire. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Denzel Curry - ZUU
80

Despite a faltering middle section, ZUU sees Denzel starting and finishing his record with trademark heat, bark, and bite. If you are a US citizen, bang this bitch out all summer and start a revolution or smthn on god

"Feel like once the music is out there the interpretation is left up to the listener for sure, that being said I'll probably still listen to the music in some capacity, but won't be platforming them by reviewing their music and such. Hoping the band decides to speak up, but knowing their elusive nature they'll probably just lie low."

"For context: https://www.reddit.com/r/fantanoforever/comments/c1swct/i_have_no_idea_whom_hes_referring_to_out_of_the/ Currently making a concerted effort to listen to the entirety of the /mu/ essentials chart so I have a more solid foundation in core genres so my music analysis is more comprehensive, and I know DsO's Paracletus is listed there as a hallmark of metal. I'll still listen to the record, but will most likely skip out on offering a review. Hope travelling has been good so far!"

"Basically my first time getting into music around 2010 was when the Youtube recommended algorithm would show me full length albums/EPs to listen to, often uploaded by fans of the musicians. All the albums I discovered that way hold a special spot of nostalgia in my music listening journey and this was my first math rock record I ever heard!! By no means a bad label, just a personal one. :)))"

"I haven't listened to Hope Downs yet, but Pavement is one of my favourite bands of all time so I had to double-check Stephen Malkmus actually recorded and released this heaping pile of garbage because I was so dumb-struck."
