This is my last resort

I've been warming up to Yung Lean for about a year or so, his last album 'Starz' was the most impressed I had ever been with his music and since 'Trip' came out as a single I was pretty hyped to hear 'Stardust', but to be honest it really only peaks with 'Trip' and thereafter it just becomes a bit of a boring slog to get through. On the plus side this is a little better than his self-titled, the production and the lyrics are better and 'WHEN SPARKS FLY' is fucking incredible, but on the down side a lot of this is very boring and Vince just sounds half asleep for most of the album AGAIN.

While some of the production choices and ideas on 'THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND' don't really work in the bands favour, there's enough fantastic tracks on here to keep me invested. I mean if you like RHCP I don't see any reason for you to not dig 'Unlimited Love', especially since John Frusciante is back in the band and since it's probably one of their better records in years, but that doesn't mean much for me personally. Expecting MGK to make a project that isn't below average and basic is a bit too much to ask honestly, and it's more difficult to ask for that ever since he decided to go full blown Pop Punk and recruit Travis Barker to inspire a new wave of basic, overproduced Blink era Pop Punk knock-offs. 'Diaspora Problems' is by far one of the most interesting and unique records to come out in 2022 so far, it's insane in the amount that it manages to package into one project sound-wise but it's also just an insane sounding album in general. I really hoped that the disappointing singles wouldn't be indicative of a mediocre album from Charli, but unfortunately they were since 'Crash' is a fairly mediocre effort from her, as painful as it is to say. Who Cares? Well I certainly don't.

Rex Orange County's new record is actually pretty decent on a serious note, a bit on the predictable side but it has its qualities like how Alex's knack for sticky hooks and melodies shines through, the inclusions of orchestral instrumentation and the crisp production.

'Tana Talk 4' all in all is a really good album and it's a suitable edition to Benny the Butcher's discography, but I feel like this could've been so much better. There may be a lack of consistently sticky hooks and out there ideas on a lot of cuts but for the most part 'Ghetto Gods' is a fun helping of Southern Hip-Hop from EARTHGANG.
