It's albums like this that make people think that rock is dying.
Let me explain.
This was a record I had no anticipation to listen to. The Black Keys have always been a band that I've wanted to love or get into, but for whatever reason I just haven't clicked with their blend of blues power-pop rock. It's very rarely something that really makes me stand up with excitement, or sticks to my brain at all. To my ears, it sounds nice and punchy in good places, but the next day I completely forget ... read more
Well goddamn it now I am excited for a Rich Brian album. Lets hope this aint a fluke.
Jesus Christ i'm late to some of these records. For some reason my headphones decided to destroy themselves the weekend that every man, women and child wanted to drop a new classic, making me the latest man known to planet Earth on some of these records. Sorry for the wait y'all!
Anyway, this record is fucking wild, and makes complete sense that Eric Andre made this. Happy late 420 followers special I guess?
This is what you get if you give the same people who make those YouTube poopers from ... read more
You know what the best thing is?
Having your headphones break in front of your goddamn face, and then when you order new headphones to quickly and efficiently get on top of and enjoy new realeses from artists that I have loved for a while now, and trying to get to realeses for milestones but have the headphones not show up so you can't properly enjoy the content provided because of delivery delays? Isn't that the BEST???
And instead of trying to ignore the problem by tuning out to videos, I ... read more
Jesus Christ this thing was so much goddamn fun to listen to.
Poppy clearly has got a lot of talent when it comes to constructing a bright catchy soundscape, however recently she's been integrating much moodier, much darker and much more heavy sound into her music, almost inspired by the likes of Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails and Marylin Manson.
And it us so goddamn fun to listen to.
The over the top bangers of Voicemail and Scary Mask make this thing an absolute stomper of a project to listen, ... read more
Waaaaaaah?!
So after reccomendations from Injury Reserve, The Melon Man himself and a couple of friends, I was pretty excited going into this record. It seemed like this was gonna be another punch in the face exciting experimental punk album that really tries to aim for your kneecaps...
And I kinda got that?
At only thirty minutes, the album feels bite sized and ready to eat straight out of the oven. However, when you bite into this cookie, it's a lot more strange and kind of interesting ... read more
Now this is Molotov Music.
Goddamn. I'm still recovering from the punch to the face that album was. After listening to Refused's latest record, I was thoroughly looking forward to what else the group would offer to the world of music. After all, nearly everyone and their mama has said this is the best thing in the world, and that it's the groups magnum opus. So, is it that good?
Well, the title doesn't lie. This is punk ass punk, feeling genuinely revolutionary. It's experimental, off the ... read more
WAIT
DEATH GRIPS RELEASED SOMETHING
WHAT
WHERE WAS THE WARNING
So this was something that I had no idea that came out until I saw other AOTY members talk about it, and already I got insanely hyped for what was to come, and what did we get?
Well, this is Death Grips reminding us of why they are called Death Grips. The heavy, intense drum work, paired with the dominating industrialized synths and the warped, altered and hellish vocals, creates a sound that almost feels like they are looking ... read more
Oh.
My.
Fucking.
God.
Listen to this album please. For the love of GOD listen to this record. Thanks.
...Your wanting a review longer then that huh?
Ok, so, for context, I had no idea who or what black midi was going into this project. I had no idea what sound they had, who was in the band, or any knowledge of the album going into this record. All I vaguely knew was that it's described as post-punk, but that could mean 15 different things to 30 different people.
So what exactly DID black ... read more
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you: Jack White Tries to Bring Back Blues Attempt #15!
The Raconteurs are a group I have for some strange reason avoided in my Jack White-stanning life. Not for any malicious reason, mostly just because I haven't found the time. I've heard great stuff about the groups debut Broken Boy Soldiers, and have heard that Consolers of The Lonely aint too shabby either. But for some reason, while i'm a massive fan of Jack Whites other projects, this is a weirdly ... read more
got the horses up my ass.
So Lil Nas X is a interesting figure in hip hop. His unique blend of country and trap is something that sounds like a novelty act at best. Like, how do you make that sound authentic, interesting, or coherient without sounding like absolute radio sell out garbage? This really was Lil Nas X's make it or break it moment, to see if he could be taken seriously as a stand alone artist.
And it's not awful. It's just fucking weird in both a good way and a bad way.
It's far ... read more
Not gonna lie: Didn't expect to be listening to this today. But hey, hunters gotta hunt.
I had no idea what this album is. Like, none at all. I didn't know what genre, if i'd like it, if i'd hate it. I didn't even know who it was by. This is true going in blind material here, based off of a blind recommendation from @thomasny18 and @toasterqueen12. I had nothing to expect.
Holy shit.
What I got I think was a truly great noise/ambient/jazz/heavenly record. It's an ambient record with enough ... read more
Uh...Insert Brockhampton joke here?
Look, Dom's work with Brockhampton has been praised to the ends of the earth, and for good reason! His flow and lyrics are detailed and refined, with him being the best group member when it comes to technical rhymes. But, being great when inside a group and being great in general are two separate things. So, can Dom McLennon reach these heights?
Well, you saw the rating. It's OK.
This album is more or less Dom's warped, highly analytical jazzy version of a ... read more
A short little review for a short little album. Thanks for the recommendation @notbuzzzila!
Damn this thing is tight as ass.
Somehow, with tracks that only span only a minute at a time, this record is as catchy, in your face, fun, interesting and creative as a garage punk record could be in 2006. It's like if Jack White, instead of getting really into Blues, got into Bad Religion and Dead Kennedy's. It's a fast paced, often breathtaking experiment in garage punk sensibilities, and shows that ... read more
Goddamn it I need to talk about Season 5 of Black Mirror somewhere i'm loosing my mind over this shit.
SPOILER WARNING FROM HERE ON OUT!!!
Jesus Christ what happened here? Why did this season feel so half-baked and underwhelming? Did they seriously put all their budget into delivering the astounding Bandersnatch and then made the actual season 5 a piss poor collection of Black Mirror B-Sides? Did Charlie Brooker just chuck the towel in? Was it Netflix interference? What happened here?!

So. Let me explain myself.
I get it, it's not the BEST album of all time. Hell, some people would probably say this is the most unmemorable album in existance. And I admit there are problems to this album and I'm looking through this with nostalgia goggles, but...well...
So I have a friend. Let's call him Jason.
This friend is one of the nicest people you would ever meet in your entire life. He's such a positive force, he could probably stop a train with a smile. During this time in my ... read more
I'm gonna be real with you.
This is one of the funniest, most quotable and weirdest songs I've ever heard. On god. I'm just glad they used the Doritos line.
Flow pretty bad though, but that's to be expected with a track that's improvised.
Oh Melon, what pleasentries await me?
So I had no idea to expect with this album. Like, literally none. All I knew going in to this album was that it was weird, electronic, and that apparently their was a ska song on here? So that's literally all I knew going into this album. I expected the best...
And oh god my ass. It burns. My ass burns.
There is a fine line here of genius and stupidity on this album. The beats and production sounds like it was created through the means of a experimental ... read more
I mean, whats more punk then including not one, but 3 reggae tracks in your punk album? Nothing. Nothing more punk.
Goddamn this thing is gooood. It's a punk album that genuinely feels revolutionary, like it's the audible equivalent of a Molotov cocktail aimed at the heads of everyone in their way. At the flip of a dime it can be the most intense and punch in the face record ever produced, and then a record you can chill out to in mere seconds, all while keeping that kick-ass attitude that ... read more
EDIT: While I don't think that this album is a ten anymore...yeah it's still amazing.
Now, I know what your thinking.
'A 100? On a prog rock record from 1970? With that cover? What crack are you smoking?'
No crack. No drugs. No nothing. This album is a fucking masterpiece.
Gentle Giant is a name either you know back to front or know nothing about. They are a prog-ass-prog rock band. They are the type of band that people think of when they hear the words 'prog', for their mystical and ... read more
