Fuck you Die Antwoord! You've completely ruined Ageispolis for me! Bastards!
And now, from my most abrasive review opener in ages, let's get into a album that literally is just cool noises.
Yep, it's time for me to finally, fucking FINALLY dip my toes into the large behemoth discography of Aphex Twin, who's name in the electronic world seems larger then life. A EDM Mozart if you will. People even from outside the relatively niche electronic circle can all agree that Aphex Twin is unlike any ... read more
I have a confession to make. I'm not proud of it but...sigh...
I'm a dirty, filthy Slipknot fan. Always have been. And I was pretty worried going into this album.
Slipknot, while not the most critically adored metal band in the past couple of years, has always has a small, creepingly filthy spot in my heart ever since I first heard 5. The Grey Chapter back when it first released. I know that's not their best album, but sue me for liking something why don't ya? And after listening through ... read more
Me: Hum ho howdy, whats this album? The cover sure looks interesting!
Genres: Death Industrial.
Titles: Fucking Deathdealer, May Failure Be Your Noose
Scores: Fucking High
I'll buy 13 copies and also put all my shares in the Lingua Ignota Is A Goddamn Queen trust fund.
After Listening: Wow, that was my favorite Lars Von Trier film! (Bad joke since he's a scummy human being)
Belive the hype people, this thing is amazing! Big, heavy industrial music is one of my absolute favorite genres of ... read more
Jesus Christ. This is the most traumatic masterpiece since Deathconciousness.
Before I start, i'm sorry for the lack of effort i'm seemingly putting into my reviews recently. I can't help but feel like i'm not doing enough to put onto this reviews, but that may come down to me overthinking these reviews. I do that a lot, and it comes down to self-destructive tendency's. Sorry for not giving my all. Anyway, onto the review!
My god this is a dark ass record. From beautiful to downright ... read more
Honestly, the idea of a modern day Foo Fighters live record kind of excites me in some regards. Foo Fighters, while not the most respectable or critically acclaimed rock band of all time, have definitely found a calling for being notoriously great live. Nearly 3+ hour sets on the regular, loud arena styled guitars and beats coming alive on the stage, and Dave Grohls on stage presence being unrivaled by nearly any rock band. Foo Fighters have owned the term 'necessary live act' for a long ... read more
Do you sick fucks think this is some sort of sick joke?
When will you learn that your actions on this planet have conseqeunces?
When will your goddamn arrogance punish your pigshit fuckbrain from ever doing this again?
This was my brain listening to this album.
Before I talk about WHY I did this, I feel it bears saying that there will be two types of people: people who are gonna listen to this album as a joke and give this 100 for easy likes, and respectable people who only listen to music ... read more
This record came out in 1967.
Fucking how?
No wonder the world thought The Doors were satanists. This is my first rodeo with The Doors as 'album artists' (by that I mean this is my first time listening to their entire album) and i've got to say: this blew my mind in so many ways.
I can't phathom how much this album has an effect on me. The mix of old school synths, mixed with kooky and sinister instrumentation, leads for It's got that same swagger that the early rock scene had, but so much ... read more
I'm not gonna lie. I don't think I really cared about Blu, Oh No or this project realistically before The Bald Man came in.
The Bald Man did say 'This album is pretty good', and as we all do here, we blindly follow the Bald Man. I've discovered many a good record through the Bald Man. The Bald Man is always right, except when he's not (in which case the Bald Man is always wrong). So, what did the Bald Man have for me today?
A decent hip-hop album. Yeah, this was nice. Good job Bald Man.

Michael Gira, lead singer of Swans, does a cover of Under Pressure with Xiu Xiu. What the fuck reality am I living in.
Literally anything can happen when you listen to Xiu Xiu, which is one of the coolest and most terrifying things about Xiu Xiu. They are always evolving, experimenting, trying new things and just generally being fucking insane their entire careers, and that's something I can't get enough of with this group. They never ever bore, even when something isn't as exciting as ... read more
EDIT: Now I see the error of my ways. No longer will Ed rein over actual artists. This was not the most exciting release of the week.
I really didn't want to review or even listen to this. Ed Sheeren is an artist that I virtually have no opinions on, due to the fact his blend of Folky stadium rock sounds more like it was aimed directly at my mother. And Jesus did this thing stink a mile away. This is some of the worst features i've seen all year. Justin? A Boogie wit da Hoodie? Eminem? Bruno ... read more
Goddamn, the feel good boys are back with some super positive tracks.
This album is exactly what I needed right now. Just some super pleasant, fun, interesting and well performed synth-funk that feels like it came straight out of the playbook of the Sonic soundtrack, or a much more bright and summery version of Daft Punk that fuels the 'feel good' side of your brain. In a time where empathy and positivity is almost shamed upon, it's so nice and refreshing to hear an act virtually go against ... read more
There are some records that everyone on AOTY just stans.
I know that might be a cringe inducing statement, nor was it the most thought out statement of all time, but there are various records that this site just completely adores with all of its heart. Some of these records are more subtly loved then others. There are the overtly loved records like Deathconciousness, or Spiderland, or any of Kanyes or Swans albums, and then there are the more subtly loved ones, like Smile! or __. And of ... read more
So. This thing is a big deal.
This record is supposedly supposed to break my mind, sell my body to the black market and eat my ass like that one character from that one HBO show that I can't remember right now. (I think it might have been Girls?) Either way, from the cover, to the amount of tracks, to the length, to the wildely incoherant title...yeah, looks like we going into full experimental mode now boys. Put your hats on and get ready for weird tracks that make no goddamn sense. (There is ... read more
Wait...Dream Theater...being over the top and theatrical? yOu dOn'T sAy?!
Despite me not being head over heals for this groups music in the past (seriously, those early records can like my taint) these guys have found a strange way into my heart with records like Metropolis 2 and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence with solid riffage whilst combining more prog-influenced song structres and production. So, after the albiet clunky Train of Thought, I was kind of excited to see where this group would ... read more
I swear I become the most distant man alive on this site once that Friday hits. Christ. Let's do a little bit of catch up then!
While knowing literally nothing about this album going into it, I was extremely excited. Japanese Girl Punk has always been one of my favorite sub-genres, and usually crank out some of the wildest and craziest stuff i've heard in a while. Happened with CHAI, happened with Mitsu, and I sure as hell really want it to happen with this project. Hell, I almost knew it was ... read more
So... industrial is my 'turn off brain' music.
Music that just hits a nerve in my soul and gives me that jolt of heavy aggression that I need in the mornings to get me ready for the day. That's industrial music for me. The thicker, in your face and heavier the better in my opinion, and 3teeth consistently hit that margin of on your face, if not slightly corny, pieces of slime that I love to eat in front of my family. Their past two records have given me that, so I had both high and low ... read more
While not Marc's best collection of comedically genius improv funk-dance tracks, it's still got a lot of creative merit, being one of Marc's most personal realese to date. It's an EP so uniquely positive and in love with itself that it's hard not to get caught up on it's splendor. And, for what this tracks are, they are extremly well produced despite coming from improv roots, making you forget entirely that there is a visual aspect to the tracks. It's Marc continuing to do what he does best, ... read more
FUCKING HOW?
So, this albums concept seems like a joke album. An album concept so ridiculous and batshit wild that it seems to have been made from an Onion article making fun of experimental music. A 38 minute electronic track where the only sample is a goddamn washing machine. What the fuck world are we living in? This is an album blantently asking for comments like 'damn, this washing machine went hard' and reveling in the sheer stupidity.
But, after hearing Plastic Anniversary, I can tell ... read more
So. This is Thom Yorkes masterpiece. I should probably talk a little about why, shouldn't I? Well, here you go.
For the past couple of years, I haven't really felt like myself. Depression, anxiety and mental wellness (due to events I wont bore you with) have really left me in a place of uncertainty in this world.
The fear of everything leaving me and me being replaced by something better in this world, as if I was doll, has undone and redone my personality and life in more ways then I can ... read more
